It is a very tired hotel with very minimal comforts in the room and a TV which has about the same size screen as my laptop. The bathroom was a bodged repair with gap between the bath and the grouting, the sink in my room was chipped in the bowl and the toilet cistern was hanging on the wall by...

Stayed for two nights in December, 2015. The room was quite tired. Finding parking is a bit difficult as the hotel's lot is rather small and it is right downtown. There's a bit of traffic noise but that goes with the location. Lots of pubs and restaurants within walking distance as well as a Tesco and the rail station. Wifi...

Stayed for one night. Recent reviews are fair and accurate. The Waverley is a traditional hotel with excellent food. The welcome was fine. The rooms are tired but warm. The beds are old but adequate. Evening meal can be taken in the bar or the restaurant, same extensive and good value menu. All well cooked and piping hot. Full English...

Recently stayed at The Waverley Hotel centred in the middle of Whitehaven, was a working visit and was made to feel very at home, if we were away early before breakfast was offered a pack lunch instead with a very wide choice of fillings. evening meals were superb and a fairly cheap bar, what more could you want! The rooms...

What a hotel! Stayed here earlier on in the year to visit family. The welcome couldn't have been warmer. Bedroom was a good size, comfy bed, good size wardrobe and drawers and FREE wifi. The bar was well stocked and very friendly and the breakfast was huge and so tasty. I'll come back to this hotel every time I am...

Recently visited this hotel for one night with partner. We booked a double en suite. At the cost of £84 per night. Wasn't taken up to bedroom just given a key and vague directions. Room size was ok. Tv Was tiny!! Decor was shabby and the bathroom was dirty. Towels were stained. The bar was well stocked and good prices....

Arrived here after dark, with no booking. Got a basic single room for £36. Was upgraded to a quieter one with a shower without asking. Everything clean and fresh. Restaurant also did good pub food in good portions at a reasonable price. Choice of breakfast items, which were also good.

My headline would be...'A charming hotel , full of character that probably undersells itself!' When I looked at the hotel website I was a bit unsure whether to book, some photos give the impression of being dated? However I am glad I did book! The hotel is old but this adds to its charm, It certainly had the feel a...

We booked this for our night stop before a group Coast to Coast ride. To be fair we weren't expecting 5-star luxury, and so we were pleasantly surprised at the welcome of the place and the food that was made for us with very little notice for a group of 10. I'm a vegetarian and there were loads of choices,...

This was a disappointing start to our C2C bike challenge. I slept on a towel in an effort to soften the mattress springs digging into my back. Supper was disgusting and everyone's meat was cooked to within an inch of its life and was both tasteless and rubbery. The young supper waitress was very sweet and helpful. The morning breakfast...
