We have stayed here numerous times over the years, bringing friends and family members. We frequently stay in the Lakes in various establishments but always call into the pub for drinks and food which never fails. Its an extremely comfortable and friendly place to stay and we always have at least an annual visit to relax and charge our batteries....

We are from the Isle of Man, therefore the Eagle and Child is part of our heritage, so had to visit. What a find, a pub that time forgot with great staff good real ale and real food, made us want to visit Staveley again, dog served before my drink, free biscuits

This pub needs to be visited by anyone staying in Windermere or anywhere close. I can honestly say that it was one of the best meal I've ever had. I had Malaysian style vegetable curry with sticky rice and poppadoms, then sticky toffee pudding after. All I can say is WOW! We got there at 8.30pm on a Monday night...

I'm so , so disappointed and very upset. After going to the Eagle and child over the last 3 years , taking friends , recommending it to numerous people who have since stayed, we are now left very disappointed and upset. We booked to stay and were told that there was a 48 hour cancellation period to be fair to...

Stayed here with some friends. We arrived latish and the pub was in full swing. However they had reserved a table for us so that we could sit down and eat. The food was excellent and the Ale wasn't bad either. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were excellently decorated and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast...

Ate here twice during our stay in Staveley. The food did not live up to expectations considering reviews and have had much better for less money ( and we are used to southern prices). The pub is interesting and the staff friendly but as there is no competition within the village one wonders if this is a factor. Pity it...

We did the Bowness to Stavely walk from the tourist information centre in Bowness On Windemere. The pub was a welcome site at the end of the walk and we all had a decent bit of grub and a couple of pints. Nice location, the pub garden accross the road is riverside so quite tranquil. Staff were very friendly. Nice.

a great country bar with good food and very tidy and comfortable rooms. cosey, authentic, bar with a good selection of cask ales, a barman who knew to put cucumber into Hendricks gin. The rooms have been refurbished to a very good level and the bed was superbly comfortable.

We booked 2 rooms - 1 double 1 twin. Rooms were ready when we arrived at 1pm. Had lunch and evening meals. All of which were delicious. Breakfast following morning was something else! The variety of cereall fresh fruit (of every description ) yogurt, etc. was over-whelming and the cooked breakfast was fantastic. The service and staff were wonderful. Bedrooms...

This quaint old pub as almost washed away in the harsh winter floods of December, 2015. Just a few yards from the front door of the Eagle & Child "was"a bridge which collapsed and was washed away, thus cutting the village in half. The good thing is the pub survived, as did the village and it lives to tell the...
