I would recommend the Manor, it has charm, the food was good and ale excellent. It was a lovely evening sitting outside the pub enjoying and ale talking with very friendly locals Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. My stay coincided with a large storm (noting the staff could do about that) would I come back - yes if only to...

The Manor is a busy pub at St. Bees. The bar is friendly and welcoming. We had no phone signal and limited wifi. We experienced a problem which was a result of poor management. The absent Allan needs to tighten up his management systems and organisation to ensure errors do not occur. Furthermore, in his absence staff should be trusted to...

Myself and 4 others visited the manor house on 27th April for a birthday treat. Found the staff to be happy and helpful. The meals were delicious and home cooked and the presentation was lovely, (home made chips in baskets sat on paper that resembled newspaper, like chips used to be served years ago.) The desserts were gorgeous and very...

Ideal for a couple of nights. Room was average. Breakfast was good as was the evening meal in the restaurant. Good variety of real ales. Seemed to be the most popular pub in the village so was therefore pretty noisy at times. Staff friendly, particularly the owner who took time to chat. Situated on the main street with car park at...

Stayed one night on business while passing through Cumbria. Ample parking in back. Room was clean and quiet though small. Fire Alarm blared ~23:00 that night waking up guests; everyone stood around in halls waiting for the expected 'false alarm' which eventually arrived. Breakfast the next morning was good. I would go again.

Called here with friends on a Thursday after a walk. Vert friendly bar with great staff. We had a meal in the rear restaurant which was good and reasonable value Enjoyed the whole experience and great to see a popular place bursting with customers. Will defiantly return. Parking area to the rear is free

Had just the one night here. Accommodation was reasonable although being a Friday night, noise in room was clearly audible from down in the public areas until well after 11pm. Light sleepers beware! Had a fair dinner and breakfast. Allan the proprietor helpful in orientating us on some interesting details of C2C we were about to embark on.

What a change to this former pub/ hotel. Refurbished rooms and en suites. Beautifully fresh white bed linen and towels. Rooms freshly painted. Delicious breakfast as much as we wanted. Delightful new owner, a true gentleman. Very helpful as we're all the staff at the Manor. We shall certainly return again.

Many thanks for your kind comments. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. I'm guessing you stayed in room 4 which has recently been decorated and has new beds, furniture & curtains. Just the new carpet to go down now! Hope to see you again. Kind regards Allan & staff.

Arrived at 6:30, no where to find reception other than a packed bar. The noise coming from the bar was outrageous and was continuous until all hours, no volume on the TV could drown out the noise from the bar. The WiFi was unusable, the page loaded every 5-10 minutes which is most likely why it was free. All in...

Hello, In response, I would like to state that The Manor is actually a pub with rooms to rent & not a hotel as such. I do not know which evening you arrived but from Sunday to Thursday time is called at 11pm and all music is turned off at 10pm. Fridays & Saturdays can be rather packed but quiet...
