After reading some reviews on TripAdvisor we where apprehensive about our stay, but once there all reviews I'd read where way off the mark. The hotel although dated was very welcoming, clean and the breakfast first class, also the staff helpful and polite. We booked 2 doubles and a twin, all rooms were clean and the beds comfy and with...

Stayed here as part of group doing Hadrians Way Cycle Route. Hotel needs some renovation / TLC - a touch of faded grandeur. WiFi only in downstairs area Summary: + Welcome hosts + Breakfast OK - though Bacon was hard and dry + Bar OK, good selection ales but all bottle / cans - nothing on draft / tap +...

It's a nice old place a world away from slick, modern boutique hotels. The wifi only works in the lobby, the fittings are tatty, and the shower pressure is shocking. All the same the staff were friendly it was clean and the breakfast was included. Some people will hate it, I found it charming in its own way - nostalgic!

just had Sunday lunch today, The food was very good and either lamb, beef or chicken was on offer, or a trio of all three. We had the trio + 4 veg and 3 different types of potato. No room for pudd, but the choice looked very good. We were in first and only waited for 15 minutes. Later diners...

On a positive note the breakfast was excellent and the waitress was very friendly. The first room I was allocated was the smallest and darkest I have ever seen and not something that should be offered to guests in this day and age. I was given an alternative when I complained but why I was given this awful room in...

Clean and comfortable with friendly staff. Poorly marketed (haven't even put the name of the hotel in the space provided on the top of their website!) and clearly underused. Lacked atmosphere when we visited because few other guests. Pity because it deserves to be better used. Dinner menu basic and limited but food was well cooked and fairly priced and...

Staff very friendly and helpful. No staff on site or access to any facilities when we arrived back at 9:30 pm looking forward to having a drink in the bar. Hotel cold, first day no bread available for breakfast. Second day no one available to cook. I would not recommend to any one.

Lovely building and surrounding area. The hotel needs some attention along with the room we stayed in, it was dark due to the low light led bulbs and the decor and furniture were dated. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was good (need real sausages, not the fake Walls type). It has not inspired us to stay again,...
