Booked a weekend in the Cartmel Suite at the Masons Arms - very smart décor and a cosy place to come back to after a walk across the Fells on a bright, cold February day. The Masons Arms offers that cosy cottage type accommodation with the added advantage of being attached to a fantastic restaurant and bar with a great...

Visited for dinner with my husband and two youngest children whilst staying in the area this week. We booked a table, as we noticed it got very busy when driving past through the week. We loved the interior which was very cosy and tastefully decorated. Service was efficient throughout the evening, though not quite as friendly as other pubs in...

This was a great find for Valentines weekend at the south end of lake Windermere with views over Cartmel Fell . This oldie worldie pub with bags of character, roaring log fires, great accommodation and even better food. A great selection of local hand pulled ales as well. It just couldn't get any better!! John the assistant manager was very...

We stayed again in Lythe Cottage and enjoyed two evening meals as well. A perfect arrangement for those who like self catering within walking distance of the pub. Great range of beers and wine and delicious food. We had meal in restaurant on second evening. This is a very well run establishment. Tateful decor , great accommodation and tasty food....

Booked in for Sunday lunch today and after a lovely couple of hours here we would definitely come again! On arrival the chap behind the bar immediately offered us drinks and a choice between our booked table or a table by the fire as it was a chilly day! The menu choice was the only negative and that was only...

Stopped off here for a drink after a walk and was it disappointed. Lots of nooks and crannies to sit in. Only had drinks but the food coming out looked very generous in size and very appetising. Hot spiced cider was great. Sign on the door says no dogs, which accounted for the miserable dogs waiting outside in cars. It's...

Whilst staying in Newby Bridge some nine miles from this pub although we had found it on a Google map and went to investigate we were not disappointed. Upon arrival it was a Sunday night in late November so first impressions of this place was apprehensive. I am so sure it will be different to that of a summer review....

We stayed here last week for a night, having eaten here many times and always loved it. The room was nothing short of spectacular, brilliantly well equipped, well furnished, comfortable and for us - all importantly: Dog Friendly. Although Dogs are not allowed into the bar or restaurant. I would highly recommend this superb, unpretentious and very luxurious accommodation. The...
