Arrived on 2nd of November to find the place closed.(I believe it's gone into liquidation ).Could have let us know beforehand as we had driven 150 miles to reach the hotel.Very very disappointed .Understand it closed on the 30th October.

With only one day to go before we were due to have a 3 night break at this hotel I was informed that they were to go into insolvency on the date arranged for our first night's stay, which had been booked with them since early August 2016. I am saddened by the fact that this hotel had been accepting... More

We stayed at the High Cross Inn last month and had a lovely time. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Fabulous views and great home cooked food with vegetarian choices. Not a buffet breakfast but they will cook what you ask for. It is informal and dog-friendly which suited us as we took our young spaniel away with us for... More

We spent two nights here on Groupon offer, using it as a base to explore the Lake District. The room was better equipped than expected, was clean and had a reasonable bed, the view from the window was fantastic. We ate in the pub on both nights and found the food to be very good and represented good value for... More

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the High Cross with a Groupon deal and what a bargain. We were allocated Room 1 which has 3 large windows giving wonderful views in all directions. Very spacious room, with a huge en-suite, and a very pleasant surprise of a jacuzzi bath - lovely. There is no hairdryer provided,... More

Stayed here for 3 nights with a groupon deal with my partner and 4 month old baby. On being shown to our room we were told that it was being decorated, that was an understatement. When we got to our room my heart sank. It was mouldy and very small with a toilet and shower almost on top of each... More

Travelled 2.5 hours to stay at the High Cross Inn for a 3 night bank holiday weekend break. Checked in and went for some dinner in the restaurant. On returning to our room... the nightmare began! As we sat down the room started to move, literally! I'm not exaggerating when I say that the room was crawling (or jumping) in... More
