4 of us stayed overnight when walking the Pennine way...On arrival was greeted by friendly staff...great pub atmosphere..but as a bed and breakfast it is far from ideal..The bar was noisy until 1am..which I suppose it is a pub!...but ALL night long you could hear everytime someone used a tap or toilet in another room as the toilets were of...

There's two sides to this pub. As a locals boozer it's obviously a popular place and gets pretty busy. However as a b&b it's awful. The rooms are dirty, unhygienic and generally not fit for purpose. Plus they're directly over the bar so don't expect any peace until after midnight especially if there's a darts match on. It's a shame...

I took my sister and brother in law to visit my stepdaughter in Alston and as I like the Angel inn I took them there for a meal. This is a really nice inn dating back to 1611 and has a nice pleasant atmosphere. As I have a sweet tooth I love the sticky toffee pudding which I would class among one...

Ok. The good stuff. Breakfast was great. The price was reasonable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The bad stuff. The room we had was over the bar and noisy until midnight. The cobbled road outside was very loud when traffic went by. We didn't get much sleep. When we arrived it looked like...

Whilst passing through Alston decided to pop in for some food. Was made to feel welcome, the food and service was 1st class!! Proper homely pub, with a great friendly atmosphere , will definitely return in the future. Top marks. See you soon!!

Cosy pub, food was excellent. Can recommend the jacket potato with chilli lovely!! We also had the toasted sandwiches and the burger was a hit with my husband. Didn't try the sweets as were all too full but had some classics like sticky toffee pudding and the likes would definitely go again.

we booked for a one night stay. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. This inn was built in 1611 so it has a bit of character and has limitations. The carpets are worn and do need replacing and the rooms just need a bit of sprucing up. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm for...

If you were expecting a swish Premier Inn experience, you may be initially disappointed by the lack of mobile phone signal, the poor tv reception, the wonky floors and the thin towels. But this is a 17th Century Inn at a good value price. After a 3 night stay we were used to the quirky accommodation. There was a warm...

Owner couldn't have been more helpful when we arrived drenched after a days cycling in the rain. Nothing flashy here, simple honest food, no fuss rooms. Saturday night and the pub was rammed with locals, young, old, eating or drinking. Clearly the place has got it right for the locals and with a good few passing by it works well....
