#1 of 2 hotels in Prestbury
Travellers' Choice
In the very heart of rural Cheshire lies the picturesque and unspoilt village of Prestbury which miraculously has resisted the breathless pace of the modern world and has retained the tranquil atmosphere of the perfect English village. Since 1952 the Bridge in Prestbury has been one of the country's most respected hotels, providing luxurious accommodation, fine food, morning coffee and afternoon tea, private dining facilities, an excellent conference centre and the very best in social entertainment facilities. A personal, friendly service is the key to our success. The Bridge is an ideal base for visiting the wonderful and diverse Cheshire countryside and attractions just 20 minutes drive from Manchester Airport and located within easy reach of the motorway network. The Bridge Hotel balances the excellent facilities of a modern hotel with genuine character and appeal.

We booked a table for four and were seated on stools by the bar under the speakers blasting out music by the front door- bear in mind this evening was the first snow of the year..... We complained about the table and were moved to a ‘proper’ table opposite the door that was the route to the ‘tee pee’ that got food far quicker than we did! Because we never got any. And we were cold..... An hour in we got our starters- yay- cold bread, stone cold, straight from the fridge; scallops were tepid but eaten by our daughter who was desperate by now... Main course was elusive, nobody asked us if we wanted more drinks, and the jug of tap water we asked for on arrival materialised after we asked again with starters. We chased the main course, asked to move tables as we sat with our coats over our knees and were told 5-7 minutes- by the time we’d moved tables we were assured we’d have our main courses. We were offered drinks and ordered some, bubbly that we didn’t want (it was my birthday but we wanted food not drink) and waited.... So at 9.50pm we gave up, we’d been there since 8.15, we were hungry, cold and fed up. We had repeatedly let management know we were not happy with the service and no - we didn’t want another drink that didn’t come anyway! Go there at your peril and only if you think you want to be seen in Prestbury. There is nothing nice or personal about this place and locals should avoid it.

We ordered a takeaway whilst in lockdown. Good menu and easy process. The food was excellent and made a great change from the usual type of takeaway offerings. The food was well presented, good portion size and very tasty. Look forward to the next one!

Now, we turned up and got shown the bedroom. May I add make sure you ask for room 3, roll top bath and 4 poster bed! Very romantic. Once we got settled we headed down for our food as we had booked a table to be greeted by great staff. The food was sublime and not only was the head chef a great cook but he also had the time at the end of the evening to sit and chat to us and show us around the outdoor gardens. All in all I would recommend this experience to any of my friends and family. Oh, and one for the interested....this place is steeped in history. Dig and you may be surprised to what you will find!

A fabulous outdoor tipi with pretty fairy lights, heaters, fire pit and social distanced tables. Really well organised, all the standard Covid rules adhered too whilst maintaining a relaxed environment. Our scallops, tempura prawns, celariac and apple soup starters were all tasty and hot. Equally the chicken skewers, lamb and beef shin mains were delicious. The chilled beer and mojito’s complimented the great food. Staff attentive, quick and professional. We look forward to returning again post lockdown 2.
