Transports you to a different world- however plumbing in Club rooms needs attention, cold taps running scalding hot water and is an issue as the rooms have just opened after a serious refurbishment and breakfast was meagre for £21.00.

Amazing house, interesting history and garden. Car park full at house so drove down to woodland car park and walked back to the house through beautiful glade of trees,no leaf but still gorgeous. Returned to car with walk along river for a different aspect. Worth a visit!

This was our third stay at this magnificent hotel - every visit just gets better and better. The hotel cleverly combines the grandeur of your surroundings with making you feel totally relaxed from the moment of arrival - warm welcome at the entrance and Reception with prompt and effortless check in. Previously we have stayed in 'Chinese' - small and...

I like hotels that are not converted hilltop forts, old cowsheds or other nonsense. Built for purpose hotel equals hotel. Image my surprise when I found myself outside the main entrance to Cliveden. I had walked the delightful grounds that lead down to the river several times and had more than one good whisper about the food. I was persuaded...

Dear SandyBeach76 Thank you for breaking your rules and staying at Cliveden - in a way you haven't - the Astors bought the house in 1893 and used it for entertaining the great and the good throughout the 20th century - in fact when, in 1985, Harold Macmillen, the former prime minister, was told Cliveden was becoming a hotel said...

One of the best serviced retreats for comfort , food and relaxing places. The staff and estate are rarely matched for the luxury and quality. Quality of service and care are of very high consistencies in every thing .

Magnificent property and grounds, well with a day visit. The afternoon tea was quite good. The service everywhere was outstanding - attentive and helpful without being overbearing. The history of the place is also fascinations from a dueling owner (see painting of him and his mistress) to the Profumo affair. The grounds are also well worth walking around, though we...

Dear londoneraway Cliveden is only a short hop out of town for a Londoner to get away but feels like it is in a different world. Our 350 year history has provided many stories and tales and there is always someone here to tell them. Maybe on your next visit you may consider taking a trip on the Thames on...

I visited Cliveden today to hopefully book a weekend stay as a special birthday gift for a very close friends 40th ... waiting 20 mins to talk to someone .. nobody enquired how they could possibly help .. one person sat dealing with a couple for ages and ages .. no acknowledgement that someone would possibly help me . A great evening in a very special building. These is no way to visit such a palace and find that it is a cheap option. And it wasn't cheap but it was really nice. We opted for the tasting menu and I enjoyed every course. The service was polite, welcoming and well informed about the courses. My favourite was the...
