**RECOMMENDATION** Contact the Hotel to review the current seagrass conditions prior to booking because you will not get a refund if the beach in inaccessible and you can’t swim in the water because it is choked with churning brown drifts of seagrass. We live in...More
Beautiful resort with an excellent personnel attention. Special thanks to Mayte for all the kindness and helpful information. She makes you feel home.

We drove 3 hours down to Mahahual from Playa Del Carmen. Almaplena is an Eco Lodge right on the beach owned and managed by a couple of Italians.
The owner was not very welcoming so that was a bad start. The room was really nice...More

Know that you have to bring the remaining balance in cash, exact amount would be appreciated. Getting out of the port area and finding the cab stand was a little tricky but basically you get out of the part go straight down the main road and the taxi stand is on your right. Resort's email will include a map but we still had issues. The drive from the port to the resort was between 20-30 minutes. you will feel like you are going to the ends of the earth, which you are but it is beautiful once you get there. if you have snorkel gear bring it as there is a reef some 200 feet from the shore. Everyone we came in contact with was very nice and friendly. This was one of our top day trips as it was so peaceful especially compared to the day before at Playa Mia Grand Beach Park which was enjoyable but in a very different way. Enjoy.
