The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa 5* is an astonishing complex, situated on the Mayan Riviera, just 20 miles from Playa del Carmen, and 1 hour from the airport at Cancun. Is in a class of its own due to its spectacular design. It brings to mind the ancient Mayan buildings; but...

Stayed at GS for the first two weeks in July and had a great time. I would recommend this resort. It’s not perfect (few places are), but a great holiday all the same.

We stayed in block Lu'um, room 1725 between 25th June and 10th July and had a pristine room!
The check in was quick and simple with the bellboy taking our cases to our room whilst pointing out where the restaurants were around the site.

The best resort I have been to. Will go again for sure. Friendly staff, great food and first rate spa. A must to visit. The rooms are large and beautiful. A very naturalistic resort with lots of animals to see. Kids love it.

We got in a taxi from Sirenis to Playa del Carmen and the taxi was fine - cab is checked by security hut and takes the taxi number, drivers name, our room number and how many people in the car - and does the same check on the way back in. So definitely felt safe in the taxi.
Playa del Carmen itself is a bit iffy. But most places you go could be the same. We got dropped off and had to walk down a road of a small shops to get to the main 5th Avenue and down this road we were offered drugs a couple of times. But this never bothered us as we just carried on walking. The main strip of shops is much better full of bars and busy with people. No drama or trouble there at all.
