we didn't find the beach right by the hotel good for snorkelling. you can walk a few hundred yards and find calmer beaches. however, when we were there we couldn't use flippers (local environmental regulations) , just a snorkel, which made it difficult to swim. we were also told that the ocean was rough and in other seasons its much better for snorkeling. we were there in March.
