For the money, this hotel is hard to beat. We paid 350mxn for a room with one full bed. The regular rate is 450mxn, so check online for deals. 450mxn would still be a great rate. The location is perfect. The room was very small, but immaculately clean. The water pressure was great, and no waiting for the hot water...

This hotel is amazing value. Right on the lovely main square and our room had a little balcony. The room was large with two beds and there was a lovely sitting area just outside where the wifi could be accessed. There is also a rooftop terrace to sit on which has great views. Juan Carlos and his staff couldn't have...

This hotel is a great value for the price given the location and the service. Many of the reviewers indicated their spacious rooms and so this is one reason I wanted to write this review since our room differed quite a bit from the descriptions here. We were given a single room that was very small. Once we had our...

The location of this hotel was superb. Wonderful patio overlooking Plaza Chica. A great place to kick back and watch the passersby. I had a single room-spotless. As the temperature was quite chilly, upon request, I was brought an extra blanket. My only complaint is that there are renovations going on down below, and even though I was on the...

I stayed at the Gran Hotel for five nights in May 2014. I absolutely loved this hotel! Everything was perfect. We had a large (two double beds) room at the front of the hotel, with a balcony overlooking the plaza. The beds were comfortable, the room and entire hotel was so shiny and clean, and the bathroom was great with...

Outdoor café on the busy plaza. Great for having a drink and watching the busy town square. We had dinner and breakfast there back to back from the same server! He was prompt, patient with our lack of Spanish and congenial. The food was nicely presented and delicious. For breakfast we had 2 coffees, French toast, large glass of strawberry...

After making a visit to the Saturday morning market off Plaza Chica, we stopped in for breakfast at their sidewalk cafe. Good coffee and a nice breakfast with prompt service. Great people watching during the active Saturday morning hours!

Only booked this hotel at the last minute as Patzcuaro was a very late addition to my itinerary but I am so glad I chose the Gran Hotel. Probably my favourite hotel, and town, of my 5 week trip. The hotel couldnt have been better situated, right on the smaller, but far more interesting, of the towns two squares. It...

I cannot find a single fault with this wonderful little hotel. My husband and I stayed 8 nights and enjoyed each one. Location is excellent, situated in the smaller of the two plazas so it is quieter at night. Walking distance to anything in Patz. Juan Carlos, the owner, has managed the hotel for many years and is exceptionally accommodating....

To be fair, we split our meals between La Surtidora and Gran Hotel. GH does fabulous breakfasts - perfect eggs and crispy bacon, and their chilequiles are excellent. Coffee is made fresh, not Nescafe. The spinach salad is wonderful (spinach, bacon, fresh orange slices, young creamy goat cheese, toasted sesame seeds with a balsamic vinaigrette) and big enough for a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Patzcuaro, that means in Purapecha language: place where they raise and they lower the Gods, is a constructed colonial city in century XVII. Considered by the Mexican government one of the 23 Magical Towns of the country. It has the virtue to be near two beautiful lakes (Patzcuaro and Zirahuan) and to count on a great variety of indigenous localities with a great artisan tradition, which combines indigenous techniques and design, Spanish and even Chinese. ... more   less
