Located in Plaza Quiroga in the centro histórico, Hotel los Escudos is set in a gran casa more than 400 years old. Rooms are beautifully-designed; old-world elegance with modern-day amenities; comfortable beds, cable TV, wi-fi, telephones, hot water...all in spacious, clean rooms. And unbelievable value in what could easily be described as a 4 star hotel.

We stumbled upon the restaurant in this lovely looking old hotel, when we were visiting Patzcuaro for the day. We were a hot, tired group of 5 adults and 2 children. Ideally located right on the town square and next to the amazing market, the shady courtyard of the restaurant was lovely and beckoning in the mid day heat. Though...

We were so looking forward to experiencing the old colonial charm of the Plaza and this hotel. The Grand Plaza was amazing, and although this hotel has old world charm ,the lower interior room they gave us was dank and very moldy. The bed was rock hard, with old linens that were equally antiquated. There was no hot water for showers,...

Service was OK. The food was mediocre at best. We were walking by checking menus and the waiter was fairly aggressive in recruiting us. The place looked appealing being on a sidewalk across from the public square so we sat down. There are much better places, walk on by.

This location was excellent! It is right in the center. A block away you will find the food stands and the main taxi/bus stop. you can walk around the plaza and find a lot to see and do. The hotel was very nice and clean and the owner was very nice and helpful as well. The food was delicious and...

Have stayed here before, as have friends, & never been disappointed. Directly facing the beautiful Plaza Quiroga, which is the center of activity. Next door to the best coffee shop in Patzcuaro, which not only open early, unlike many other places, but also has great meals throughout the day. No need to fear rooms facing the street & plaza here,...

I wander into this little gem by accident as I had intended to stay across the plaza at Posada San Rafael a good but only average hotel. When I saw the posted rate of 350 pesos w/fireplace I knew I must check it out. My room was absolutey immaculate with 2 double beds, a huge bay window that overlooked the...

This is the second time I have stayed at Hotel Los Escudos with friends. Very nice, quaint hotel! Love the location! The first time, we were so cold in our room..until we realized we could ask for a heater to be brought to our room. Very comfortable after that! The second time, we asked for a heater right away, but...

Stayed here in August 2007. Patzcuaro is one of the most enchanting pueblos I've seen in Mexico and a great great place to have shopping: its artesanias are excellent and very convenient!!! The best about Hotel Los Escudos is clearly the location, right in Plaza Grande. The hotel is old-charming, with well kept patios. Our room was big and clean,...
