Chiapa de Corzo is about a 20 minute drive from the Tuxtla Gutierrez airport and is a much more attractive city than Tuxtla. We chose to stay our first night here on the way to San Cristobal de las Casas. Chiapa de Corzo has a small-town feel, and La Ceiba is an old-fashioned hotel built around a courtyard with a... More

There is not a lot of choice in Chiapa del Corzo and this is probably the best. The hotel primarily seems to cater for package tours - which says it all. Restaurant very mediocre although our room was okay. The well tended garden is the best feature of this place. Staff were less than attentive.

My wife and I spent two days at Hotel La Ceiba last week. The hotel has a lovely courtyard with tropical trees and flowers along with a swimming pool and a pet Toucan. It is located two blocks from the historic centre. The staff were Spanish speaking but very helpful in arranging our Sumidero canyon tour and our taxi for... More

A friend and I recently stayed there while do some scouting for an upcoming tour. The place is attractive. Yet when we walked in the staff was very slow to greet us or acknowledge us. they do not speak english. When I mentioned that the on-line price was considerablely less they told us it must be for a different hotel.... More

Pretty hotel with refreshing pool. Rooms a good size, restaurant average and wifi limited to lobby and pool. Managed to get lost trying to get to town but that's probably me. Lovely cat and kitten plus caged toucan in garden.

We stayed one night at Hotel La Ceiba while visiting Canon del Sumidero. The grounds are very beautiful with a lot of plants and flowers. The hotel also has a pool and a free car park. Our room was quite simple but it was clean and considering that you are in a small Mexican village it was absolutely fine. We... More

Like most other people, we stayed here in order to visit Sumidero Canyon the next day. It was not far to the canyon. It was also only a short walk to the town centre (although there didn't seem to be much there) and to the river (one or two restaurants that looked okay, but we didn't find them until the... More

Probably most of you won't agree with me. In this hotel you won't have telephone in the room, nor the air conditioner, nor TV, rooms are bear and rustic. However, there's the garden of paradise outside, wonderful trees and flowers, a tiny cute pool, kind people ready to make you feel happy and relaxed as they are, modest but delicious... More

If you are expecting the advertised 4 star quality, this hotel would be a great disappointment. From my experience it is about a 2 star. It is a convenient walk into the centre. It has a pool & air conditioned rooms so that's a plus. There are only 2 lounge chairs by the pool so grab them early!

We stayed here one night so that we could visit the Canyon and for this it served the purpose. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the air conditioning worked fine and was appreciated as it was 36 C! I had heard that the staff was not very interested in the guests and I would have to agree. The... More
