My family and I stayed here twice before, several years ago and it was certainly a lot better back then. This time I was by myself on business and can honestly say I will never return. It was Revolution Day weekend and I asked the young lady checking me in if there was anything special happening in the plaza that night or going on the next day. She could not answer my question since she had even less English than I do Spanish. Got to my room and there was no internet so back to see the young lady. After half an hour she got it on my phone in the lobby but it did not work in my room, even though it was supposed to. Lo and behold, the tv did not work so back to see the young lady. She gave me an entirely different remote control which finally did the job. Mosquitos were terrible. The entire hotel, except the guest rooms, is exposed to the exterior. So, I could not sit outside in the evening or early morning without getting eaten alive. And, somehow the mosquitos even got into my room. I found the bed uncomfortable and the toilet barely flushed. They told me breakfast started at 8:30 in the morning. At 8:30, no one was even in the kitchen yet. There are too many nice B and B’s in the area to stay at rather than this place.…
This little Mexican hotel is authentically charming. Nothing fancy but clean and functional. With pesos going so far these days, Mis Amores is a bargain. Choose your room carefully as each is unique. My first room, although quite large, had intermittent wifi service so I switched to a room by the gardens. Apparently a smoker had been there before me but I told Francisco the manager and they totally recleaned the room and changed all the linens so it was better. By the time I left 6 days later, it was fine except for the mustiness from the rainy weather. My friend's room upstairs was a gem. Restaurant is no more but a breakfast of coffee, toast, yogurt, granola and fresh fruit is available. Outstanding location off the square and near good restaurants.
This was a big disappointment. Things started off with a booking error. When we showed them the confirming email, they admitted the error but didn't apologize. When we got to our room, there was no drinking water in the bathroom and no coffee for the coffee machine. The towel bar was falling off the wall. The towels were so old they were thin and scratchy. The Wi-Fi was very weak and not available in the rooms.
This place is perfectly located, close to the lake and right in town. Surrounded by all that you came to see in Ajijic. We loved our room and the grounds of this place, unfortunately we were in the down season so the restaurant was not open. We will come back again.
Everything about it is good. Tastefully decorated and furnished, good location, everything works, breakfast included, secure parking, quiet. No air conditioning, but the ceiling fan was sufficient the night I was there.
