During the off season this is the perfect place to relax. The restaurant food is excellent. The Room size generous. We had the Lake view room. View amazing. Staff very friendly. It was very peaceful at night.
Service in this hotel is the absolute worst. Breakfast starts at 8:30 AM. That’s because they don’t have enough staff. We were told that was because of COVID 19. But to our surprise, the next day they organized a huge party within the hotel premises. We called it a Covid party. After their COVID party, glass was shattered all over the floor at the restaurant, where the kids could have cut their feet during breakfast. We’ll never come back here. Ever.
We had a 40+ group of foreigners traveling and staying in this hotel for our wedding. The wedding wasn't at hotel real de chapala, we booked it only for accomodation. Booking the rooms was so difficult as the booking staff could barely speak English, even when they assure they would, and they couldn't use our group code online. Most of the rooms could use a renovation, none of the safelocks worked and some rooms had to have staff checking the showers for extra cleaning. We had a room already paid for the Priest and it was double charged, Even if I tried to get the money back for the extra night while i was there and when we travel back, I end up giving up and just stop contacting them.I just gave up. Service was good through Mon- Thursday, but Friday and sat they had booked several corporate events in their Open gardens, they had speakers since 8 AM, which wasn't really the problem, but the hotel staff couldn't really keep up, and we could be waiting the bill or the things we orders in the restaurant for over an hour. The hotel should really plan ahead and get more staff when they know they will have hundreds of people expecting a service. on the positive side; the views of the lakes are beautiful, the walking to the town isn't as bad as we were expecting. The staff in the restaurant were nice and really tried their best to compensate the lack of staff. Overall I would say that for the price of the room you don't get what you paid. The hotel have a lot of potential hopefully they could do some changes there.…
The hotel is good for family stay, because of the pools that are acclimatized and they are just perfect to spend time with children in the cold period of year. They also offer great food at the restaurant and the staff is quite helpful, taking into account the rhythm of life in Chapala is slower and so are the people that live there. The problem I encountered, was that at arrival the receptionist told me just one night from two were registered. The next day, they made me prove I paid the second night. After 30 minutes they told the problem is solved and made me change room for a worse one, they offered me instead a free breakfast The room i was made to leave was never reserved for someone else, the inconvenience was i had to pack my stuff and move all over with my kid.
Location and antique feel we’re spectacular. They even helped us find a missing article. Hot tub , pool in good working condition. Pros: Rustic feel Great service Good food Comfy bed Cons: Shower not so hot I would stay again!
