So-So Cal

There aren't many accommodations to choose from in El Rosario, but fortunately, the Cactus Motel is one of them. In fact, it's so nice (at least the new part of the motel where we stayed), it left us wondering (a) who would invest this much in a nice hotel in this dusty, wind-blasted burg of Baja and (b) how they...

We stayed here for one night on our way to La Paz. The room was large and the beds were comfortable. The shower was strong and hot. We had made an advance reservation and they told us on the phone if we weren't there before 7 pm they would not guarantee to hold the room. We decided to pay in...

Stayed overnight on our way to Cabo. Wonderful hotel! Great bed, huge shower with lots of hot water, beautiful furniture/design and friendly staff! Would stay again! Right next to the Pemex. $450 pesos per night. Also next to Mama Espinozas restaurant. Cool place but very over priced

The motel is super clean and decorated lovely with mission style furniture. The room and bathroom are quaint! Unexpected in a small little mountain community. The motel belongs in the alps. There is a great restaurant next door with a gas station next door. PERFECT place to stop driving down to Baja south or driving back up north to the...

I think like most people we stopped here to sleep/rest here on our way to/from Cabo. The staff is super nice. I would STRONGLY recommend calling the hotel directly to reserve. I learned during our road trip to Baja that most hotels will show "booked" or no vacancy online, but if you call them directly they will tell you if...

Doesn't look like much from the road...... Much nicer than it appears. Big nice quiet rooms. High end furniture, beds, and bath. Dog friendly. Great stop over. Here it fills up so would recommend a reservation.

This motel came highly rated by the Moon handbook for Baja. It hit the mark! This is the best hotel on this trip by far. If I could rate it a 10, I would. The room is great Mexican style with tile floors, bathroom, and vanity area. Great four poster bed which is comfortable. TV, free wi-fi. Great friendly and...

What a great hotel in such an unlikely place. The owner also runs the Pemex station next door and is very helpful to the road weary traveler. The rooms are large and surprisingly posh with hand carved furniture and spacious, clean bathrooms. On our return trip, all the hotels were full because of the Baja 500 race crowd and the...

Ask for the Colonial rooms, there are all remodeled to the period and are very nice. The economy rooms are about $10 cheaper, well worth the upgrade. 10 of us stayed there on the way down and tried to book on the way back but they were full because of the Baja 1,000
