Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Faced with a 5 hour drive from Rosslare ferry port to the Dingle Peninsular, I looked for a staging post to make the journey less challenging. I found the perfect place in Sundown House, near Castlemartyr which is about a 2 hour drive from Rosslare. It is a modern bungalow with ample parking and the host, Mary, could not be more welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble to her - she even phoned a local dining pub to keep an eye out for me when I arrived for a meal and they did just that! You will not be lacking in energy for your travels the following day because breakfast is not only delicious but is generous in portions. Next time I make that rip I will be staying here.

We stayed here for two nights whilst touring the Cork area. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for Mary, our host. This isn't the most modern place but we loved it. Excellent breakfast.

We recently spent 4 days staying at his B&B whilst attending a wedding nearby. The welcome from Mary and David, the owners, was outstanding in a country noted for its warm welcomes. The room was large and spotlessly clean. We were able to dress for the wedding in spacious comfort. Mary was always there to provide advice on where to go, restaurants, local services etc. and there was always an invitation to enjoy a pot of tea and a chat. The breakfasts were excellent and we will definitely return when visiting Ireland in the future.

If you are looking for a typical friendly Irish B & B then look no further than Sundown House. Never before, and I have stayed all over the world, have I been treated so well as I was here.Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was huge and really nice. There was nothing I could say bad about the place. Idealy situated for touring in that part of Ireland. I will certainly go again. I was at a wedding and there was no problem with coming or going to get changed, no time limits at all, you were free to come and go as you please.

My daughter and I stayed at Sundown House for two nights, while we visited Cork, Cobh, Midleton and Ballimaloe Cookery School. The home is located just 200 yards off N25 , just east of Midleton but on a quiet, country lane. Mary and David are experienced hosts who welcome all to their home. David is a classic Irishman with the gift of gab and loves to share with guests. Mary loves to garden and has lovely plantings. Guest rooms are on the ground floor and spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was quite good and generous quantities. This is a perfect B and B for couples, families and those visiting Cork area without staying in the big city.

Mrs Mary was just amazing! Very friendly and helpful! She gave us a wonderful recommendation for dinner! Room was a little on the smaller side; but for only staying one night, it was exactly what we needed. Bed Was comfortable. Breakfast was great! Thank you so much! Would recommend this B&B!

What an amazing experience it was to stay in this beautiful B&B. Our hostess Mary gave us a very warm welcome with tea and fresh scones. The house is meticulously clean and such a pleasure to look out on their manicured gardens.
Comfort and style and a hearty breakfast who could ask for more! :-) 10/10

I recently staying here for a local wedding, and the experience we had has reminded me why B&B's are better then hotels. Outside of the reasonable price, Mary and David were very obliging. Mary facilitated a late check in, allowed us to decide the next morning when we could have her delicious breakfast, and then David drove us back to the hotel to collect our cars. Would definitely recommend - a kind hospitable couple. while Irish myself, I believe tourist will get the best Irish welcome from Mary & David
