I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Inn at Glendyer in Mabou on Cape Breton Island. Not only is the property exquisite, but the proprietor, Jill Coleman, was the most gracious of hostesses. The inn was homelike, warm, cosy and friendly. Jill's knowledge of the area and the must sees and must hear of the west coast of...

This was the perfect getaway. Driving down the dirt road I enjoyed the greenery and brook. It is a short drive to the Inn which has the charm of a time past and all the amenities of the present. The rooms are charming, peaceful and the beds are very comfortable. There is a wonderful Labyrinth to walk in the garden,...

My partner and I stayed at the Inn at Glendyer in mid June . The Inn is a lovely old house that has been made very comfortable and the setting is wonderful. You can hear the birds sing and there is a babbling brook running through the property. On the way from Mabou , before we turned onto the road...

The location of the inn was so convnient to all of the dances and music and a short 5 minute drive to The Red Shoe Pub and 8 minutes to the Glenora Distillery. The inn is located in a 150 year old heritage house. Yes, it has uneven floorboards but I found that it only added to the charm. Jill,...

After our initial apprehension at the rough unpaved road leading to the house, we were pleasantly surprised at the standard of comfort in our room. It was simple and clean and the bed was very comfortable. A 52" flatscreen is not something we care about and the complete silence around us at night was very welcome and restful. Breakfast was...

After a #1 ranking on TripAdvisor, we were expecting something more. The house is clean and maintained and although historic, it is definitely showing its age with sloped floor boards. The living area was a bit too cluttered for our taste. There were just several things that were not great that added up to an overall average experience: -The signal...

My husband and I and another couple stayed here while touring Cape Breton. It is an older home, on an unpaved but easily to navigate road, with a real charm to it. The owner, Jill, exuded hospitality and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was delicious, and she also had coffee and tea available for us in the evening. The bedrooms...

We loved this Cape Breton heritage house that once housed the family of "Donald the Dyer" for which the area of Glendyer is named. From the miniture donkeys in the pasture to the brook running through the property, everything is perfect. I had my best sleep yet in the comfortable room no. 3 (could hear the brook running past with...

My wife and me stayed for one night during a vacation trip in Nova Scotia. The stay at the "Inn at Glendyer" clearly was one of the positive highlights during our trip through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. It is not directly located in Mabou but a bit outside - this turned out to be a very positive aspect as...

You really can't pass this place up. It is in a beautiful, serene location. The house is gorgeous and beautifully remodeled (especially our private bathroom). The breakfast was delicious, the room was comfortable (and sparkling clean), and the host (Jill) was gracious and friendly. She really has a gift for opening her home to guests and making them feel welcome....
