We stayed with Shawn at the time of the American election and he kept us sane. The room was very comfortable, the living room with log fire (and no TV) was wonderful (see photo), and he offered us coffee and tea by the fire at any time. It was almost possible to forget the outside world. We were also offered... More

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 1 September 2016

Absolutely loved this hotel! Such history in this place! The rooms are well kept, nice and bright, very clean, with a comfortable bed and we had a room with a small balcony so we got a great view too! Loved the big wrap around porch where you could sit outside for dinner. Ate at their restaurant both nights we stayed... More

If you like the ambiance of staying in an old historic house then this is the place for you. We were originally offered rooms in the motel part but asked to stay in the main house. They are starting to renovate some of the rooms and our room was in fact recently renovated but the window would not close properly... More

Who would not want to stay in a place where Alexander Graham Bell stayed at. It's been in the family for generations so you know it's well taken care of which was obvious. The owner had maps of the Cape Breton trail, a video slide show and told us good places to see. A great personal touch.

The hotel was almost full when we arrived early in the evening but room 35 was still available. Attached to the hotel we like to think it used tot be some kind of a storage room rebuild into a guestroom. It was charming and we quickly booked another night. Good starting point voor the Cabot Trail. And the dining room... More

Great location, on main street of Baddeck. Looks a bit tied when you first see it from the outside. When we were there they were painting it so this observation will change when completed. It is an old Victorian type of building so the rooms reflect this. Do not expect modern conveniences, it is an old building and the rooms... More

We had dinner here last night . The best crab cakes I have ever had!! The 4 of us had 4 different desserts and all were creative and delicious. The dining room was extremely clean and the service was next to none. Cannot wait to go back here again for the delicious food!

First the good - the location is perfect. Right in the center of Baddeck which is excellent for exploring Cape Breton. We weren't super impressed with the check-in, but things picked up from there. The staff were welcoming and over the course of 3 days got to know us. They were very helpful when I got sick one night. My... More

We stayed in the main house and the room was comfortable and clean. They do have a restaurant for dinner (we didn't eat there) but do not serve breakfast. This is not a problem as there is a choice of good cafes nearby. The one directly across the road is excellent and the staff there are lovely. I have no... More

Imagine a hotel that looks like hotels must have looked back in the days of A. G. Bell, but with modern comfort. The moment we entered, we felt that we made the right choice. Splendidly decorated, friendly staff, and the promise of a fine dinner at their restaurant, all combined into a warm feeling. The rooms are spacious (we had... More
