This place is so old and smelly. The laminate in the bathroom sink was peeling off and catching my shirt every time I went in there. The halls and elevators all had a very bad odor. I would not ever recommend this.
We booked a two night stay at this resort. Our room was very dirty. The air vents were covered with black grime and caked with dust and the air filter was filthy. The bedding was musty and smelly. When we asked for another room, we...More

I checked in today to the “Historic” building. Although Abe Lincoln may have slept in my room, it has not been updated since he left. My room is a dirty Motel 6. Great view of the parking lot. When I asked to upgrade, I was...More
In my opinion, this is one of the most underrated places I've been to. Honestly. Despite it's age and slightly modest accommodations, you'll be hard pressed to find friendlier staff that are genuinely interested in serving you and an atmosphere that blends peace and beauty....More

I didn't stay in the cottage room but from everything else I experienced I wouldn't stay here. You can just tell whoever owns the place stopped caring a long time ago. I mean there were little things I noticed that could be made nicer and nobody cares. For example, the wood rails on the motel exterior could be sanded down and stained for a little of nothing. The hearing and a/c is broken and has been for a long time, go read other people's reviews, all complain about the same issue for over a year!! Do yourself a favor and check out places on the airbnb app, stay in one of them instead and go play golf at the Grove Park Inn. I think it'd be a much more pleasant experience for you.

Depends. We wanted to have drinks and not worry about driving, so we ate at the hotel. I had the special which was filet mignon which was quite good. It was adequate for us so depends on your taste. There are a few restaurants nearby in Waynesville too (look here on TA) which would be closer than driving to Asheville.
