My wife and I stayed at The Swag for two relaxing nights on our recent anniversary. The setting could hardly be better, as it sits right on the border of Smoky Mountain National Park with long range views. The main lodge and other buildings fit the setting perfectly, as they were constructed of rough hewn wood & stone. Even some...

We just returned from our third visit to The Swag. Once again, this charming country inn lived up to our lofty expectations. We stayed in the Two Story, which afforded us the use of an outdoor shower, hot tub and fireplace. Our every need was attended to; every conceivable detail was addressed. As always, the food was superb, the grounds...

My husband and I visited the Swag in June for a couple of days. It was part of a road trip across 9 states in 14 days but I can honestly say this was one of the top highlights. Deena and the team could not have made us feel more welcome! From the luxury accommodation for which they have thought...

While The Swag is a luxury resort primarily for overnight stays, I want to praise the establishment for welcoming area residents to dine there. We are Asheville area residents who had the privilege of enjoying one of The Swag's Wednesday picnics. The picnic is held on a knob that's 1/4-mile from the main lodge. Transportation is available but it is...

Fantastic place to visit, to celebrate a special occasion, to commune with nature, be treated royally for a few days. Food is great, accmodations excellent. Hard too describe this place and their people. All are willing to do whatever to make your stay, whatever you want it to be.

We just went with our three kids and stayed at the two story. Once you enter the gates on the drive up you feel like you entered an enchanted forest and it gets better from there. Numerous, raw trails. Waterfalls, ponds, walks above the clouds, hummingbirds and other fantastic qualities. The food is incredible. The hotel staff is second to...

We returned recently for a fourth visit to one of our favorite places, The Swag. The beauty of this mountaintop paradise is astounding. Accommodations are upscale rustic and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful, making you feel as if you are part of the family. The new chef is very talented and the food was uniformly excellent, the...

What an incredible place - incredible experience and one of the most memorable inn/hotel visits in all my years of travelling. On our way to Asheville after three nights at the Blackberry - we stopped for (regrettably) a one night stay at The Swag. If I had it to do all over, I would have spent at least three nights...

We love the Swag! We are just back from our second visit in six months. The atmosphere is friendly; the service is terrific; the setting is spectacular; the hiking is fun and manageable; plus the owners are the loveliest people you will ever meet. Our room which was quite large had a fireplace and steam shower and sauna as well...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Swag is an award-winning, romantic hiking hideaway now in our 35th season. On 250 acres at an elevation of 5,000 feet, The Swag shares a common border with the Great Smoky Mountain National Park an hour's drive west of Asheville in western North Carolina. The Swag's very private setting provides inspiring views, peaceful hikes, birding and relaxation. The property's main buildings were constructed of century-old hand hewn logs and from it's mountaintop front porch, guests enjoy a 50 mile panoramic mountain view to the east and south. ... more   less
