One night stop on the way back to the UK. Warm, helpful and friendly welcome from the proprietor. A whole hearted recommendation at a beautiful and peaceful hotel with lovely rooms. Would definitely stop again to spend more time exploring this region.
We stayed at Domaine de l’Orangerie for four nights and it was exceptional! Laurence gave us a warm welcome and we immediately felt at home in her 18th century house with easy parking in the courtyard for our rental car. Our spacious room was quiet, beautifully decorated, and had a lovely view of the garden. The bed was very comfortable, and the large, nicely appointed bathroom had an excellent shower and was spotlessly clean. Additional amenities included free Wi-Fi and an electric kettle. A generous breakfast was served in Laurence’s lovely dining room-- croissants and bread, several different cheeses, jams, honey, yogurt, cereal, two kinds of juice, and coffee or tea. The pretty and well-equipped Orangerie room was a perfect space for guests to relax with a glass of wine or a cup of tea and have a mid-day snack or a light supper. There were also chairs and tables in the garden. A small grocery store and a fabulous boulangerie/patisserie just up the street made shopping easy and convenient. Jujurieux is a very appealing town located in the foothills of the Jura Mountains, with an attractive center and residential area, a large park, a silk industry museum, and thirteen chateaux in the commune. It is an easy 45-minute drive to the Lyon airport, which makes it an ideal base for exploring this area of France. Laurence speaks excellent English and gave us great suggestions for restaurants, local markets, and day trips to mountain lakes, Lyon, Bourg-en-Bresse, Ambronay Abbey, and Perouges, a beautifully preserved medieval village. We have stayed in many wonderful B&Bs and small hotels in France and Italy over the last 16 years and Domaine de l’Orangerie stands out as one of the very best! Highly recommended!…
We has a very enjoyable two night stay. Laurence was very friendly and helpful and speaks good English. The room was clean and bright, with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was good, with a variety of breads and pastries, with jams and honey, and a decent pot of tea! Jujurieux is a pleasant village with nice countryside around and some local walks (take walking boots!).
The Domaine de l'Orangerie in Jujurieux was the perfect place to stay after savouring an excellent meal at the Abbaye in Ambronay. Laurence Seguin exceeded our expectations at her delightful chambre d’hôte -- she even offered to drive us to/from the restaurant which was 5km away: truly extraordinary. The room was spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was copious & delicious. Laurence also provided lots of additional information about the region that we found useful. An exceptional bed & breakfast find in the Bresse region.
We stayed here for 15 days in June and this was our second visit after previously staying here for two weeks in September 2012 Where do we begin.........there is so much we want to say ..........our stay was excellent and we would have no reservation in recommending this delightful chambre d'hôte The owner, Laurence Seguin is absolutely lovely, extremely helpful and accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in her home. It was obvious that she had put a lot of thought, time and effort into renovating the property We stayed in the largest room Pavane, which could accommodate a family of three easily. Everything was spotlessly clean and all of the furnishings were traditional and of good quality The bathroom was very modern and contemporary with a large walk in shower and the washbasin had loads of storage underneath it for toiletries There were fresh flowers in our room and everywhere around the house which looked wonderful The breakfast was absolutely excellent and consisted of at least three different breads every morning. There was lots of things to choose from.......croissants, pain au chocolate, muesli, cheeses, eggs, yogurts, fresh fruit from the garden and wonderful home made jams and marmalade. Unlimited fresh coffee and tea and on several mornings the owner had made cherry clafoutis which, was absolutely superb!! She also cooked us bacon and eggs!! The Orangie room had been converted into a room for the guests to use to either relax in or cook in. It contained a hob, oven, fridge freezer, microwave, grill, kettle, coffee pot and lots of crockery and cutlery There was a large dining table and chairs plus a contemporary sofa and seating area The garden was large and well maintained had numerous chairs, tables and parasols dotted around for the guests to use. Again everything was immaculate There was a bakery and small supermarket within 200m both selling fresh produce daily We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Madame Seguin and will certainly be staying with her again…
