Gems in North Carolina are usually found in Hiddenite. However, my wife and I found a "gem" of a bed and breakfast in the pottery capital of the country: Duck Smith House B&B. We have stayed in bed and breakfast inns from Tombstone, Arizona to Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, and this is one of the very best. Extremely hospitable hosts...

The Duck Smith House has all the features one wants in a B&B: history - it's a 104 year old house and property, hospitality - the owners could not have made us feel more welcome, and the homey comfort of elegant furnishings (beautiful china and linens) alongside practical conveniences (Wi-Fi, TV, fresh coffee). It is located in the heart of...

We spent a birthday weekend at Duck Smith as the base for visiting all the pottery studios. Suzanne and Barbara were outstanding hostesses going above and beyond to make us welcome. The accommodations were comfortable and very clean with all the amenities you would expect. The house and grounds are unique and we highly recommend this B&B.

Sisters Suzanne and Barbara will welcome you warmly, settle you comfortably in a lovely room (ours was the first-floor Carolina room), and make you an utterly delicious breakfast. Plus, the breakfast room has shelves of examples from Seagrove potteries, giving you a head start on finding the just the right local pottery you are probably here for!

My two best friends and I just spent a memorable weekend at this warm and wonderful B&B. It was perfect...charming guest rooms, delicious food, and two sweet, welcoming hostesses. Suzanne and Barbara made it all special, from beginning to end. The house is exquisitely decorated and spotless, the grounds are full of beautiful flowers and the wraparound porch provided us...

The ladies who own and operate this B&B are very personable and pay attention to all the little details. Breakfast's are tremendous and they even prepared a meat and cheese tray for our late arrival. A very enjoyable weekend.

My sister and I had stayed here many years ago and loved it so when the opportunity arose to stay again with our Mom we jumped! It was an incredible experience. Owners had changed but with that came some updating and it was beautiful. Our mother relaxed and enjoyed the conversation with Barbara and Suzanne and breakfast was one to...

Our group of 4 had a wonderful time on our 2 night visit to visit pottery shops and the zoo. Barbara and Suzanne thought of everything to make our visit extra special. The breakfasts were delicious, our rooms were immaculate, and they gracefully accommodated my husband's gluten free needs. Superb!

We loved our getaway to the Duck Smith House B&B. We are locals and wanted a nearby location to have a one night getaway. Such a beautiful old home. The room was very comfortable and cozy. The owners were so friendly. And they served us an excellent breakfast. They made sure we had plenty of delicious food to eat! We...
