I just returned from a lovely stay at the Hotel Santa Marta. If you're looking for an oasis or a brief respite from city life, this is the place for you. Peaceful. The hotel is located above the Santa Cristina Beach - with beautiful views - and it's a short (albeit steep) walk down to it. The hotel also provides rides up and down as well. The pool is very nice for swimming, and you can also get a refreshment or snack nearby. Overall, the rooms are clean but show some marks and signs of age. I will say I loved the L'Occitane bath products! If you don't have a car, the main option for travel either into the town of Lloret de Mar or nearby towns is via taxi. To get to neighboring Tossa de Mar, for example, you can either take a ferry (not sure the cost) or a taxi for roughly 25 euros. In my opinion, it's worth it for sights and restaurant options to visit Tossa. I would also visit the Santa Clotilde Gardens near the hotel for a roughly nine euro taxi ride. Absolutely beautiful. While everyone at the hotel was very nice and helpful, it would be nice if there was a list of activities the hotel could coordinate. When I asked, I was told that I could let them know what I would like to do and they could write out a list, but sometimes it's nice to have all of that prepared with descriptions, prices, etc. so a guest could take a look. I did very much appreciate the willingness to help, though. While there is a variety of food options at their restaurants, not so much for people who have to eat gluten-free. The staff was great to work me as we figured things out, but it was not ideal. Wish the hotel would be more conscious of all guests' food needs, especially since it's in a remote location and there aren't a ton of other options nearby. I did find two restaurants by the beach that had options, although one couldn't 100 percent guarantee no cross-contamination. Tossa, though, did have a restaurant called Sa Muralla which catered to folks who need to eat gluten-free. Before heading back to the U.S., it's required to take a COVID-19 test. The hotel staff were helpful with arranging it through a local health center (roughly 12 euros each way via taxi). The PCR test is 99 euros and the antigen test is roughly 35 euro. I couldn't get an answer if the antigen test was a viral one, which is the kind of antigen one necessary to come into the U.S., so I went with PCR. Had the results in a little under 24 hours. Thanks to Ignasi at the hotel for all of his help, plus with other questions during my stay as well. On a side note, when I was leaving, the hotel arranged a ride to Barcelona airport for 170 euros and if you have to leave in the morning, just know it will take about two hours to get there. Normally, it's less, but rush hour traffic is tough. I had taken a bus from Barcelona (after spending a few days sightseeing) to Lloret de Mar for nearly 11 euros, and then a taxi (for maybe eight or so euros) to the hotel. It was in the middle of the day and took about an hour. Overall, I would recommend staying here for the tranquility and beauty, but I hope they up their gluten-free food options. Thanks to the lovely staff at the hotel for their kindness.

Bait and Switch scam at Santa Marta Hotel in Lloret de Mar! They advertise a price of 10,5 euros per kilo for one fish and 98,00 euros per kilo for another fish. We choose the 10,5 euros per kilo fish and they give us a bill for 105 euros per kilo for the fish. We tell the staff who calls himself Eduardo(no name tag) and the tension and lies from the "Santa Marta Hotel" begin. First the staff named "Eduardo" tells us that we don't understand how to read prices, because the comma, in between 10,5 means the price is 105 euros. We knew this was a lie but we respond by asking... does that mean the price of the other fish advertised as 98,00 is actually 980 euros per kilo?(over USD $500 per pound!) To which Eduardo replies "yes." At that point, we ask for the owner or the manager of the "Santa Marta hotel", because we know we have been scammed by the "Santa Marta Hotel". Eduardo ignores our request to speak to his supervisor and he starts physically putting his face very close to ours and shouting at us(endangering us with Covid) with more of his aggression and lies. We ask again for the owner or manager, but "Eduardo" continues to tell us we must pay 105 euros per kilo! By some miracle we took a picture of the fish prices advertised before we sat at the table, because at the time of the bill, the prices were all removed. (See photo attached) In addition to the lies, tension and stress of the "Santa Marta Hotel", the fish and potato accompaniment was served cold and it was the worst fish and potatoes we have had in Spain. We have eaten much better at any random highway bar/restaurant compared with the very bad quality food at the Santa Marta Hotel with rip off prices. On top of all the aggression, stress, cheating, worthless food and rip off charges, instead of the slightest apology from the manager or owner, we receive an email from the "General Manager" named Albert Marin Gines of the "Santa Marta Hotel" accusing us of ignorance of what the global or local fish prices are. (Tripadvisor.com ordered us to remove the email we received from the hotel general manager because of Tripadvisor.com policy stating..... "Reviews should not contain: - extensive quoted material from other sources - content copied from other websites, reviews, owner responses, emails, or printed materials" Essentially, the email from the manager at the Hotel Santa Marta in Lloret de Mar was an another condescending, antagonizing and bad commentary. Bottom Line, STAY AWAY FROM SANTA MART HOTEL IN LLORET DE MAR, unless you want stress, to be ripped off, insulted, lied to and have a terrible experience.

We spent our summer vacations in an incredible hotel, located at the espectacular Costa Brava. Hotel Santa Martha is probably the best located resort there is. I am obsessed with their gastronomy , it’s one of the things I value the most and a complete highlight to my stay. We met the General Manager (unfortunately I don’t remember his name), he was super charming and took the time to explain their vision for this years’s new beach restaurant concept. We we’re delighted, and congratulations for this new idea! We tasted the best well cooked fish I have ever tried for years. My congratulations to the chef, we made sure he was aware of this pleasant experience. We had dinner twice during our stay at the hotel’s restaurant and I can describe our experience in one word: exceptional. I shared a piece of veil shank with my partner, and we both agree it tasted like a piece of heaven to us. We’ve never been to this hotel before, but we are planning on returning every year if possible to enjoy a wonderful getaway. Congratulations once again, and we’ll see you soon.

Hotel set in beautiful surroundings yet within easy car / taxi ride to local towns. Helpful staff, very clean and spacious rooms with excellent sea views. Bed was very comfortable and huge! Bathroom well equipped with decent quality soaps and shampoos. We did not eat dinner in the restaurant but breakfast was fresh and extremely varied to cater for all tastes and needs. The only let down was the weather, but that was not the hotel's fault!
