#5 of 6 hotels in Robbinsville
Phillips Historic Motel & Cottages is a comfortable, quaint, historic motel located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. We're located in downtown Robbinsville, on the east end of the Cherohala Skyway and only a few miles from the famous Tail of the Dragon. We've recently added 2 large covered motorcycle parking areas!! So we now have 4 total on the property. We have new ownership since May 2018 and we're replacing beds, tables and other motel items to make your stays more comfortable. Book directly by phone for the best rates. We're the most comfortable, affordable place to stay in the area.

I have no idea if the motel is nice or not, because I couldn't get a return call! Voice mail says he's running errands and to leave a message and he'll call you back in an hour or two. So I left 4 messages over 3 days - no response. Voice mail also gives the manager's cell #. I left message there - nope - no return call. I found their FB page which states they are OPEN in Jan and Feb and to call them for reservation and the very best prices.... Before sending a carrier pigeon or smoke signals, I sent a PM. He actually finally responded that they don't have 24 hr reception right now during their slow period. Umm yea, that doesn't explain why no one has returned ANY of my phone calls. He asked what I wanted and I told him at 8:30 this morning. 7 hours later - no response and no phone calls. Hmmm, maybe this explains why February is their slow time?!! Because they can't be bothered with reservations... even though they insist that they're open... I've never had such poor communication with an establishment. I wouldn't stay there now if they paid me. Thankfully we found a nice little airbnb nearby.

I got the last room they had meant for 1 person & it was awesome. This is the best little room at a great price. It’s nice n cozy, clean, & well maintained. The best part is the shower, just big enough.

While both the houses we rented were in need of some repairs, they met our needs for this trip. The things we needed could be easily found at stores nearby, except liquor (this is a dry county), and we were surrounded by beautiful views. The best part of this trip would have to be Mr. Bill Young the Office Manager (I believe). When the first person in my group got there, he was soaked from the rain. Bill lent him a shirt and umbrella, and offered to dry our wet clothes for us. Any issues that I had were addressed by Bill and housekeeping as soon as possible. Thank you Bill for everything you did for us!

Bed are as hard as a brick. No hot water in shower. Commode ran constantly until you open the tank and un-stick the flapper valve. Room was clean though. It was convenient to the area I was visiting. Only near by restaurant open was McDonalds and a Wendy's.
