I had visited the Snowbird Mountain Lodge through a nature class I took in the area. Our teacher wanted to show us “this special place”returning from our day trip on the Skyway. I knew from that brief visit I would return as a guest someday. My husband and I stayed in the Chestnut Lodge-Poplar suite for three nights. It was fabulous! The hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains was perfect after a day of exploring. One of our favorite parts of our stay were the meals. Breakfast and dinner menus change daily so there were plenty of choices and the food delicious. We also appreciated the packed lunches to go everyday. All the staff at the Lodge were attentive, knowledgeable and welcoming, especially Kadey and Austin. I can see why guests return, we will too!
Want the best of everything? Snowbird is your place. Location, amenities, relaxation, the food, oh the food, and most importantly the people. Mandy and Bob have done a superlative job of hiring the nicest people out there. They all know their jobs and they do them really well. Leave the pooch home though - not welcome. Leave your TV habits at home too. Not a TV anywhere to be seen. They do have good connectivity to the internet. My recommendation for a room is one of the chalet type cabins. One warning. This is not a city environment, and the nearest one is 2-3 hours away. Expect a surrounding forest of many thousand acres and you will not be disappointed.
Located overlooking a vast wilderness area in Western North Carolina, this Garden of Eden exceeds all expectations with incredible 5 star locally sourced meals, delightful retro rooms without televisions, New York style cocktails, a helpful staff, and some of the most magnificent vistas on the planet. There is plenty to see and do is this unspoiled part of North Carolina including natures trails, wildlife preserves, birding, water activities, and the famous and challenging Tail of the Dragon road that attracts motorcycle and sports car enthusiasts. I know this reads like advertising copy but as someone unafraid of slamming underwhelming travel experiences this kind of positive review is rare for me. But this place is literally one of the few resort destinations that deserves the highest possible paise.…
Everything about this place was great. Attention to detail, excellent food, a beautiful bar, great views. Super relaxing. It was mostly older couples, no kids. Fantastic for the money. You can order lunch and they pack it up for you to go hiking.
My wife and I spent three nights at Snowbird to celebrate our upcoming wedding anniversary. Snowbird was recommended to us by a friend, and we were not disappointed! The setting is absolutely gorgeous, and is nearby to many places for hikes, walks, and exploration in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, and the food and service were very good. We were first-timers at Snowbird this trip, but it won't be our last trip up the mountain!
