Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

This Bed & Breakfast is the very best B&B that we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed at many over the years). The Owner, Jennifer, is the most gracious innkeeper and host. Teri, the manager, goes above and beyond in terms of taking care of guests.
The accommodations are immaculate. The house is a grand, elegant residence with many charms; one immediately feels 'at home'. Management has thought of everything that a guest might need. We did not expect the breakfasts and happy hour to be so fantastic - but we can't say enough about how wonderful and creative they were. 5 star B&B in every respect. Whenever we visit this area again, we will absolutely stay here, no question.

My wife and I have been married for 19 years and often chose to stay in bed and breakfasts because of the personal touches and hospitality that you do not get at hotels.
In all of the bed and breakfasts we have stayed, the Magnolia House B&B outshined them all. The owners and staff went above and beyond to give us a special experience away from home. The home was renovated to protect as much of the history and character of the home as possible with objects of owners throughout the history of the house in the various rooms. The food was excellent. Several breakfast courses and a lovely wine and cheese tray in the afternoons. We loved the emphasis on North Carolina products.
The beds provided an extremely comfortable rest at night. The bathroom in the Roe Suite was impeccable with a large shower, double vanity and soaking tub. This suite also has a private sitting area to read or watch tv.
Every morning we descended the stairs to find the most interesting table seating of unique china tableware and glassware. It made eating the amazing delicious breakfast elegant and fun.
Amenities include a golf cart tour with the owner Frank (which was an added bonus that made Oriental come alive in a way that can’t happen as a tourist passing through), access to bikes, snacks throughout the day, and seats under the namesake magnolia to enjoy part of the day.
The weekend was not enough time. We lamented not being able to stay longer. And we are already planning our next stay.
We hardly ever write reviews for trip advisor but felt like we had to on this property.

The house was immaculate and decorated for 4th if July. The perfect place to experience the Oriental waterfront. Everything in town is walkable (including the Brewery!), but the owner also has bikes for use (free), including a tandem.
Easy 30 min drive to New Bern through farmland to get bigger town dinner, but Oriental has a cool mix of seafood, Pizza, subs and a nice covered Sport bar type area that just opened. Lots of taps and great drink selection.
During the 4th, 4 different place had live music. Awesome romantic get away weekend.
The farm to table, locally sourced breakfast was amazing and the 4pm wine, cheese and brandy was over the top!

The Magnolia House is Quintessential Southern Hospitality at its finest! From the moment we arrived Jennifer and Teri made us feel so welcome. The house is impeccably furnished and clean with luxury linens and given the extensive measures taken we felt very safe. A gourmet breakfast was served every morning, home cooked using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The special blend coffee is the best!! We can't say enough about this B&B and a pleasant surprise was Frank's golf cart tour of the town. If you had to describe MH in one word; "PERFECT".

No detail too small for Jennifer and Teri, From selecting the furnishings to the cuisine everything is meticulously planned, selected and executed. Great pains are taken to provide an all around experience not just a place to use as a base away from home. The layers of pampering are too numerous to list but between the Cuisine, the Ghost and Frank you will be hard pressed to find a more multifaceted experience. Breakfast is and event as well as a meal but in such a relaxed and charming manner it eases you into the day in style. Frank's tour is not to be missed if you like History, Humor and good Fiction. The Ghost, while mischievous , was harmless and not at all spooky. We were spoiled to perfection. Patrick, and Michele K.

Friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and beautiful—my stay couldn’t have been better. My host made me feel at home but also had such a professional manner. The house is amazing and the dining and special touches remarkable. I’ll be returning!

My wife and I wanted to get away for our 20-year anniversary. Of course the Covid-19 situation curtailed a lot of our plans but we decided to drive 2 hours out to Oriental and stay here. What a beautiful and rewarding experience it turned out to be! Jennifer and Teri really went out of their way to welcome us even though we were the only guests the entire weekend! The details and decor are wonderful and every space in the house has a story behind it. Frank gave is a fantastic tour of the town and everyone is so friendly and down to earth! Breakfast was also another feature that really won us over! Stuffed blueberry french toast, fresh fruit and salad greens, Baked Parmesan eggs, fruit smoothies! The china and place settings are also something to see! Also, all of their food is locally-sourced! In the afternoons, they serve hors d'oeuvres and various wine selections that are rare finds. They also have bikes for you to borrow and ride around townThere is also a sherry, port, and brandy service that is always available in the parlor. We stayed in the Roe suite which has been meticulously appointed and is warm, inviting and very comfortable. Another thing that was truly impressive was how well they are dealing with the 'social distancing' and cleanliness procedures brought on with the Covid-19 virus- If you are at all apprehensive with travelling, the actions they take to keep everything sanitized, wearing of PPE, and food prep/serving procedures will astound you and rest assured every precaution is being taken at this establishment! very impressive! If you are looking for a quiet, historic, well-maintained out of the way B&B this is it!
Magnolia House in Oriental, NC is truly one of the best B&B's I've ever stayed at, and we look forward to returning many times in the future! Thank you again Jennifer, Teri, and Frank for a wonderful time!
