Oh, how I loved my stay at the Inn at Oriental. I found my room to be very comfortable, homey, and lacking in nothing! My girls loved the Linens so much that they asked me to have the innkeeper send us the link where she ordered them which she promptly did.

Kate is the innkeeper while her mother Bonita, and her Dad Rick assist. The service and the breakfasts were very good and Bonita even made my Grandson "special" eggs just for him. Can't say enough about that part.

From my arrival to my departure, I felt as if I were at home. I met 6 sets of guests and 5 of those parties were repeat customers. One of the regular couples even helped Kate install a sign. It reminded me so of days gone by when neighbors were eager to love on and help one another.

I was really sad to leave Oriental where my children and I made special memories and I was equally sad to leave the Inn, Kate, Bonita, and Brody the very special and sweet Shiba Inu that my Grandson fell in love with. I wanted to pack Bonita up and whisk her back with me so we could finish our conversations!!

I wish you all a very successful season and I hope all of your guests leave as well-rested and content as I did.

I’ll start with the fact that our most recent stay is I believe our 6th or 7th. From day one Lucy and Lou have been consistently the best. They, from the beginning, became our friends. We have watched the Inn morph somewhat in offerings and always well done. Their continued efforts to provide for their guest is remarkable. Several years ago we needed to move our boat to the Oriental area for Hurricane Dorian landfall, We contacted Lucy and ask if we could have a room for a few days until the storm passed. Graciously she opened their doors. Due to the kitchen being down from the storm chef Lou not deterred set up a grill on the deck beside the Inn and prepared our breakfast with out fail with umbrella in hand. Amazing. Since then we have visited several times and always feel spoiled by their attention to detail. I reluctantly post this as it may encourage others to stay and could prevent us from having a room available; however, everyone needs to experience this sweet place. Cheers y’all and best wishes Lou and Lucy!

The Inn at Oriental has undergone a spectacularly thoughtful & reinvigorating transformation since Kate & Dustin’s purchase earlier this year.

Their passion and dedication have infused the property with a renewed energy that's truly palpable and a charm that makes you want to stay longer. Each room is a sanctuary of comfort, with considerate touches & additions that make guests feel right at home. Beyond the amenities and comforts, what sets the Inn at Oriental apart is the genuine care and attention of the owners. Kate goes above and beyond to ensure that each guest’s stay is truly relaxing & uniquely enjoyable.

The love & effort they’ve poured into this place is evident in the level of attention to detail, the way they’ve honored the Inn’s history in the decor & the genuine warmth of the hospitality. Add in the tranquil surroundings & no doubt choosing the Inn at Oriental is choosing nothing less than a phenomenal experience.

Whether you need to stay one night on your way, need a cozy spot to unwind and recharge, or are looking for the perfect place to create memories with the family or your honey, look no further than the Inn at Oriental. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

In all the years I have traveled, I had never considered staying at a Bed & Breakfast. I had always considered the concept "weird". The idea of staying in a stranger's house made me uncomfortable. My experience at The Inn at Oriental has not only converted me, but has made me a fan of B&B's.
It was a wonderful experience -- we had privacy, as each room has a private bath but we also had company when we wanted to socialize. Breakfast was made all the more enjoyable by the attentiveness of our hosts(Bruce & Frankie who were filling in for the owners Lou and Lucy).
Our room, The Charleston, was on the ground floor, which my husband who has a bad back appreciated. It was very clean (I am a stickler for about this) and had all the comforts of home (albeit someone else's 😉).
Oriental was a charming town, made all the more so by The Inn at Oriental.

We never met Lou, but Lucy was very personable. She gave great restaurant recommendations in both Oriental and New Bern. We stayed in the Nantucket room. We thought it might be noisy since the bathroom window is on the sidewalk leading to the breakfast room, but we never heard anyone. We were glad to be on this side of the house because there is a bar on the other side of the house and they had outdoor singers the two nights we were there. They didn't go late at night, but if you wanted to rest in the early evening, it would have been hard since they were very loud. Luckily we couldn't hear them in our room.
Breakfast is nice, but if you stay more than a few days you might get bored with the menu as you have the same choices every morning.
In their reviews, several people mentioned a happy hour with wine. Lucy told us that she discontinued it due to covid and has not reinstated it as of July 2022.

Oriental NC is a quaint little village to spend the weekend. The Inn at Oriental started out a little disappointing. When we arrived the owner Lucy a lovely person greeted us and on the way to our room she said I have put you in The Booth Room because we are full up for the weekend. I made our reservations in Feburary and requested The Newport Room because it looked spacious and historic. Instead I felt like we stayed in the spare bedroom. This is my only complaint. Why did we have a choice to pick a room if we weren't going to be able to stay in it. The stay was great cocktails at 5pm, food was outstanding and everyone very cordial. Stayed at several B&B especially liked being able to pick what you want for breakfast.

Oriental North Carolina is off the beaten path and a quiet little town in Pamlico County. We looked for a nice B&B for the weekend and found the Inn at Oriental on Church Street. This Inn is easy walking distance for everything in Oriental. The Inn Keepers (Lucy and Lou Athey) were really kind people who looked after their guests. The rooms are nice and clean and the WiFi is very reasonable. Breakfast is fantastic. You can put in your order the evening before and just hang it on your door along with the time you want to eat. Really good Breakfast! The sunsets off the Oriental Bridge are breathtaking. Also, next to the Inn is a local brew house which has a friendly atmosphere. Recommend for a wuiet weekend away, especially during COVID. This Inn is compliant with all of the NC and CDC Guidelines. The Inn keepers wore masks and everything was very clean.

My husband and I took a side trip to Oriental on our way home from Atlantic Beach. What a delightful stay with Lucy and Lou. The Inn was conveniently located in town so we did lots of walking to shops, the waterfront and restaurants. Our room was nicely appointed and bed very comfortable. We enjoyed the rockers on the adjoining porch. Breakfast was a real treat. A menu with varied choices was made available to complete each night. How special to have breakfast ( in a lovely setting) made just for you and Lou is a master chef. Eggs were perfect and don't miss biscuits and pancakes. Lucy was the perfect hostess checking into see if we needed anything and we enjoyed conversations with her. We highly recommend a stay at the Inn.

What a lovely inn! Lucy was a most gracious host who looked out for our comfort in every way. Loved our room w/a nearly private deck. They managed to address concerns of Covid safety and still serve exceptional breakfast and cocktail hour.

A long-time friend and I had an absolutely delightful 3-night stay at the Inn at Oriental in March 2022. We were in the spacious, very quiet & comfortably furnished Block Island room. Innkeeper Lucy was amazing, catering happily to our every need … from providing wine glasses to helping carry our luggage up the stairs. Innkeeper Lou’s breakfasts, served in the Inn’s beautiful dining room, were deliciously spectacular! The Inn at Oriental is the perfect spot from which to explore the charming village of Oriental, NC … walking distance to everything! (Be sure to check out Nautical Wheelers gift shop & the Lou-Mac Park waterfront walking path!).
