My wife and I stayed at the Bridgepointe Hotel and Marina for on night only on Memorial Day weekend. This was a last minute trip for us and we were happy to find a place to stay. The room we stayed in looked newly renovated. We had no issue with the furnishings or bedding. The bathroom was nice and appeared clean. The hotel is going through renovations but it did not interfere with our stay. We got a great price for the night we stayed and I don't think it would have been as nice if we had to pay the going rate for the night we stayed which was a Saturday night. The hotel is located very close to the downtown area so you can't beat the location.
The only cons we can say were that there was never any hot water in the shower at night or during the day. At best it was luke warm. The water from the sink was steaming hot though. The best breakfast was maybe the only other area lacking. The hot food consisted of eggs and very thin bacon, make your own mini waffles, and thats it. They did have cereal, yogurt, bananas, and muffins. The coffee was very weak and not very good. The breakfast sufficed but for the price to stay at this hotel, it should have been much better. There are much better options in the area but if you can get a room at a good discounted price, it should work for you.

The location of the hotel is ideal, able to walk across the bridge into town. Room was very clean but a little worn. Room was quite and comfortable. The person checking us in noticed my crutch so she gave us a room with less walking needed. Breakfast was hot with eggs, waffles, etc. and not just dry cereal and the area was kept very clean. The price for our last minute stay was value for money in my book.

We had lived in New Bern during the big hurricane…Florence. We realized this hotel had gotten much water damage. However, even with a kitten with us, we never dreamed they would put us on the damaged 1st floor. It was very evident, and the bathroom was a disaster. Worse than any cheap hotel! Also, you could spruce up the temporary entrance with a flower pot or two and sweep up the cig. Butts. It’s temporary for you, but, not for your guests who must use the back door!!!

Nice staff. Comfortable beds. Air in the room was stagnant so we left the fan on the unit running all night to circulate some air. Toilet ran all night, we tried jiggling the handle but it would work for a short period and start running again. Walls are super thin so you could hear everything, pretty sure a herd of elephants were above us which made for a long night. Tub was dirty. We arrived at 10:30pm and very tired after a 5 hour drive. We wanted to shower and go to bed. There was no shower curtain. We asked for a shower curtain and the lady who brought it wanted to peak in the bathroom. She then said the tub was dirty so she went to get cleaner and a mat (the sign on the wall says to put a mat down) there was no mat either. So she cleaned it and put the shower curtain up while we got a stuff settled. She did apologize. She said that was second room tonight that didn’t have a shower curtain. We didn’t even notice the tub was dirty to begin with so I do appreciate her addressing that without being asked but after she left we noticed candy wrappers in floor also so it does make me wonder what was actually cleaned. Pet friendly which I didn’t know before hand or I would not have stayed here. Breakfast area is the nicest thing about this hotel and the breakfast was comparable to other hotels. Overall, I would not stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at Bridepointe Hotel & Marina, total of 6 nights. Our room (215) had a great view of the river (as do all of the rooms with 'odd' numbers in them. The 'even' number rooms overlook the highway side of the hotel). The Marina is no longer there due to a recent storm, but we actually liked that better since the view of the river/water was unobstructed (there were no large boats too block our views). The rooms were very nice, spacious, well appointed. Beds felt very comfortable. Maid service was great. Breakfast in the mornings were really good. Large assortment of options: scrambled eggs, sausage, made to order waffles, muffins, juices, fruit (bananas, etc), coffee, yogurts. Lot of sitting in the b'fast area room (around 20-30 tables with great views of the river). With the marina gone, we were able to walk around the sidewalks, etc where it used to be (and was restricted to only boat owners could go there) and get an even better view of the river and sit in the evenings to enjoy boat traffic on the river while enjoying a beverage. Parking was plentiful and free, and well lit so we felt completely safe during our stay. There is an Outback Steakhouse right next door and within walking distance. If you like to view yachts and large sail boats, you still can as you have a nice view of them at the Grand Marina located across the river from this hotel. ATM machine located inside the hotel. All day coffee available at the front desk/lobby area. Ice machines worked great during our stay. In the room 'mini' fridge and the nice desk area (which I used for some laptop work) along with the flat screen TV made the room very comfortable. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and highly recommend this hotel. We will 100% be booking our future stays at this hotel when we are in this area.

Staff was friendly and attentive. Room and property was very clean. The bed was comfortable as well. Couples that just want a place to crash and do the things that couples do will probably be happy.
I travel a lot for my living and stay in hotels every week.
Their internet service is sub par, too slow to handle dozens of guests and I was unable to connect and stay on my work vpn.
TV dropped every 3rd or 4th sentence so watching TV was not really an option.
Air Conditioner had controls but I was unable to get the room more comfortable. Seems it only had one speed and changing the temperature didn't really do anything.
Due to the above, I will not return.
Again, couples will be happy if all they want is a clean comfortable bed but if getting online to play games or use social media is important while you're traveling, I would suggest going somewhere else.

The location of this hotel is wonderful, they are right on the water and walking distance to local shopping and eating…but, we had no hot water, smoke smelling pillows, and lamps without lightbulbs! The bathroom floor needed to be swept, and I seriously wondered all night if I was sleeping on clean sheets. I think for $199 a night, they could do better.

The main issue we experienced is that the room simply was not cleaned and maintained well. We had multiple issues; sticky stuff on the floor, stained bed skirt, red spots on the sheets, dust and dirt in the corners, toilet would not flush without removing the lid and jiggling, and the clincher was discovering a small roach in the bathroom. We killed it and did not see any others, but it made us super uneasy and we would have left if not having time for the hassle of that. We should have contacted the service desk, but were very busy with a wedding. We filled out a comment card, and told the clerk when checking out that we had lots of issues with the room, but no compensation was offered.

The good: Excellent location. Outside of property and common areas are very well kept. Friendly employees.
Problematic:
AC was very loud and maintenance promptly came to look at it. Nothing could be done but at least they were willing to look. The AC vent was very dirty - definitely needs to be serviced. I was not in the room when maintenance came but they left a note to let me know they did indeed stop by. While I was looking at the AC unit upon returning post maintenance visit I saw the wall - paint soft/damp buckling/peeling from walll below the window/adjacent to the AC unit. The light fixture at the door is not well secured and needs a little TLC.

The Inexcusable Saftey Violation - non functioning smoke detector. I happened to notice that there was no indicator light illuminated on the smoke detector. I recently replaced this same ancient style. #1 This is a hardwired detector, no battery backup and the detector in room was not connected. #2 The manufacturer date of the detector was 2005. Per the manufacturer, these detectors should be replaced every 10 years. As a result, detector should have been replaced in 2015. 7 years beyond manufacturer's recommended planned replacement for this device s inexcusable. These detectors are available for $15 retail at national Home hardware store. For $100+ per night I believe it is reasonable to expect to stay in room without glaring health and safety violations.

Awful accommodations. Hotel needs renovations terribly. The service is not good at all. The food is not good and the eggs are like water. The bathroom is old with rust and mildew. The room needs a real closet with a door. The carpet is old and needs to be cleaned. Rooms should be maintained daily without a request form guest. Need new pillows on beds.

Response from Jennifer Michels, General Manager at Bridgepointe Hotel and Marina
Responded 9 Aug 2023
We hate to hear you did not enjoy your stay, the staff works hard to provide a clean and comfortable room to all our guests. The tubs are original to the bathroom and do show their age however we're happy to let you know we have some changes happening this fall that we're sure you'll appreciate. We are happy to offer not just danish and coffee on our continental breakfast but to have waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal/oatmeal, sausage and eggs as well. We hate to hear the eggs were not to your taste. We appreciate the opportunity to explain there is no need to request housekeeping services, as long as your Do Not Disturb sign is not hung during housekeeping hours your rooms is automatically serviced. However when you missed the housekeeping hours we were happy we were able to send the Houseman to address all of your needs.

When you reserve a Pet Friendly Room the pet fee as of 5/21/19 is $25 per day/per pet (with a limit of two pets per pet friendly room).
Answer from BridgePointeJen

There is no restaurant or bar on property but many great restaurants and bars in walking distance and the Outback is in the same parking lot and they also have a bar. New Bern has taxi service in case you want to go to a restaurant/bar a little further than walking distance and you don't want to drive.
