One-of-a-kind historic resort hotel. Great, made from scratch breakfast, well maintained rooms, friendly staff and beautiful grounds. Best for adults looking for peaceful, relaxed setting. Nice library on property. Free use of bikes, beach chairs, etc. Wish the in-room fridge was a bit larger.

The First Colony Inn, although a block back from the beach is a charming and historic hotel. The rooms are beautifully appointed and very comfortable and the common areas (library and dining room) are so comfy that you just want to stay and enjoy them all day! The library is an especially lovely room and a great place to explore...

We stayed at First Colony a couple of years ago and decided that we would spend the night again before heading home from our Outer Banks holiday. The inn is very nice and the staff very friendly and accommodating. We were able to spend 3-4 hours on the beach which is a short walk directly out of the Inn's property....

Very charming historic inn. The building and grounds are very nice. The rooms are individually different and well kept. Very clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly. Many amenities including beach towels and chairs, so you don't have to worry about bringing all that stuff. One suggestion, you may want to call and ask about special events. There was...

Thank you for staying with us and for your review of First Colony Inn. I did speak with the innkeeper regarding the wedding. She let me know that all guests who were not a part of the wedding were informed that there was an event that Saturday night and that a DJ would be playing music until 11 pm. Guests...

Great old coastal inn in a great location. Our room was nice and large enough to spread out. Service was good and staff is very friendly. A light breakfast, different every day. Pleasant short walk to beach access.

From the time we arrived, it was a wonderful experience. No forms to sign, no rush just a warm welcome with an afternoon "tea" of quiche, pound cake, fruit, wine, hazelnut and vanilla coffee. Bikes to ride, towels and chairs for the beach which is a short 5 minute walk away. Large outdoor pool. Room includes microwave, small refrigerator, keurig...

We only were able to stay one night at this lovely inn, but we have already booked a return trip. The location is excellent, our room was clean and charming, the grounds are well-kept, the breakfast was ample and delicious, we loved happy hour, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. There are so many extras here....free breakfast, beach...

Interesting inn. Cheese and crackers with wine served in late afternoon; full breakfast each morning. Room was a little dated and temperature was difficult to control, thus the 4 rather than a 5. No elevators so had to lug suitcase up a flight of stairs. Nice location - not on beach but a short walk with dedicated access. Furnished beach...

Thank you for staying with us. The inn is an older building, built in 1932. It has been moved and restored and was awarded the Gertrude Carroway Preservation for historic preservation by the Historic Preservation Foundation of NC. Those stairs can be rough, I know. Next time please ask for a first floor room, and we will take care of...

Room was nice. Little fridge. Microwave. Bed huge and comfy. Bathroom and shower nice. TV was tiny with limited channels. Was on first floor with "ocean view" but not really. It's on ocean block with a hotel or two and other bldgs in between. Didn't stay for breakfast. Didn't do 3-5 social due to late arrival. The gent at the...

This is a beautiful, clean, well kept, relaxing B&B. It is immediately across the street from the beach. It is an easy 2.5 minute walk from the front porch of the hotel to the beach. There is a dedicated beach access path for this B&B. The hotel provides free beach chairs and beach towels to borrow. The rooms are very...
