This manor house was built in the 16th and 17th centuries by the Cunha Lobo Barbosa and Sottomayor family just 1 km from the sea. In 1820, the Genoese Judge Luigi Vital Monteverdi married the owner of the estate and the house became to be known as Quinta do Monteverde. The manor house was completely renovated but the interior retains the touch of the seventeen hundreds. Quinta de Monteverde is a walled estate between the hills and the sea and close to the river mouth. In Castelo do Neiva, the sandy beach rolls on and on; sand dunes and unspoilt stretches lend a wonderful sense of isolation to the surroundings.

We planned a short break in Portugal and found this amazing place. Quinta do Monteverde, is a 16 century building and is a magical place to stay. The suite, was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was included and all was fresh and delicious. There is is a pool , tennis yard and a beautiful massive green area where you can enjoy to see some grape /kiwi vine. Despite the Covid-19, Fatima & Carla have organised everything meticulously to made the guests feel safe. Also if you drive around you can visit many places too. We definitely will go back and we do think this place is beautiful to celebrate special dates.

We spent a very pleasant 2 nights at the Quinta do Monteverde. The property is a bit different to the majority of rural accommodation in Portugal as it is built on a large, former wine estate and is more like an intimate resort than a hotel. The grounds are beautifully maintained and there is a pool and tennis court as well as areas just to sit and relax. Breakfast is well prepared and is served in the building once used for pressing grapes. There is also a shared lounge with a pool table, library and an honesty bar. We were upgraded to a Terrace Suite and this was lovely, comfortable accommodation with a bit of a rustic vibe. The suite was compact, but had everything required for a pleasant stay. These suites also have a good outlook over the ocean and are particularly bathed by the sun in the late afternoon. The surrounding area is very quiet and has a number of very good bars and restaurants (I’d recommend the O Tasco Regional restaurant) in walking distance or a short drive. The staff were very helpful with advice. Highly recommended as a base to explore the surrounding area.

This Quinta must be paradise! Located in a large private park there are a few very charming rooms across the location. A nice pool, a tennis court and a well maintained large garden are inviting to spend some leisure days there. The friendly team provides first class service all day long, beginning with a very nice breakfast in a remarkable room, or on the terrace under wineleaves. On request the Quinta team serves a fantastic dinner. A very well maintained "Self Service" Bar is a lovely place to meet and talk to other guests, enjoy a glass of portwine (or other drinks) and play pool billard.

We went to the Quinta do Monteverde to celebrate my wifes birthday and we could not have chosen a better place. It can not have been easy for the people working there because the Quinta originally is a bed and breakfast and we wanted to have three dinners there. We also troubled them with the rent of busses to go sightseeing and on top of that wanted guides to show us around. The only thing we can say is that the Quinta and the staff are magical and literally make the impossible possible! The warm welcome, the lovely surroundings, the extremely wonderful dinners are only surpassed by the kindness of the people working there. Nothing was too much and everything was done with a smile! The extremely helpful Carla Costa, mrs Fatima, the kitchen wizzards and the housekeepers can not be praiseband enough. This celebration has truly surpassed our expectations and the Quinta can not be praised highly enough.

Five stars for this marvelous inn! Every little thing is taken care of. Gorgeous grounds, beautiful hillside setting. Breakfast included a fine assortment of meats, cheese, breads, fruits and drinks in the most charming setting of a repurposed wine making room. We could have stayed for two weeks.
