I would be remiss if I didn't start by giving my love to Maddy. She was an angel. I was nursing a motorcycle injury and was reduced to hobbling around on a cane. She recommended a few books to me while I was on the mend, and was genuinely a great person with whom to speak. I hadn't had an...

I stayed at Lower Dover in October 16 and it was just the break I needed. I've never experienced such hospitality anywhere. Maddy (the owner) was truly amazing and I am so grateful to her for my stay. The beds are amazingly comfy and after months of insomnia I had some the the best nights sleep I've ever had. In...

Many thanks for this reviewer. It gives me great joy to know my guests can have a sound sleep when at Lower Dover. We have clean linens & pillows and provide mosquito bed nets too. The rainy season is over so the mosuqitos are not a problem yet we keep the nets up so guests have peace of mind when...

I stayed at Lower Dover as part of a backpacking trip around Belize. I'd originally planned to spend two nights at the lodge, but due to poor weather on the coast, I changed my plans and stayed for three nights instead. Maddie is the most welcoming host - I arrived at the lodge close to 5pm, but she was ready...

If you are interested in staying in fancy resorts, this isn't for you. But if you like simple, comfortable accommodations with the chance of meeting interesting people--STAY HERE! We originally booked the red cabin--which was just right for a couple. They were doing a little work on it, so upgraded us to the Rasta cabin for a few nights. It...

I stayed two weeks at the Lower Dover Field station and while the lodge is not very close to the main hubs it is located in isolated jungle a short walk from several cultural sites. The food is beyond good, I found myself having seconds at almost every meal, and one of my personal favorite spots was a small pool...

I recently just completed a five day stay with two other friends. I must say that the reviews on here are quite accurate and it is an amazing place to stay, especially if you're planning on checking out San Ignacio, ATM Cave or Tikal. First off, the hostess, Maddy, is extremely friendly, informative and personable. She knows you're on vacation...

My only regret was staying three days at Lower Dover instead of an entire week. I don't know where to begin to describe my trip there. 1- you can order breakfast and dinner for each day you're there. I recommend ordering everyday. It's always home cooked fresh and everyone eats together like a family and talk about each others' day....

Words cannot describe how great the lodge and owners are. The setting, rooms, views, trails, and yes wine are absolutely great. We showed up in the afternoon, spent the night, and went to the on-site ruins in the morning. Even that little amount of time was by far the best 24hrs of the week we spent in Belize. I would...

What a wonderful place to stay! Idealic jungle setting, the kindest, most helpful host, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable with large lockers. There's a supermarket nearby and a great kitchen. We spent the day walking through the jungle in the company of two of the hostel's friendly dogs, swimming in the creek and relaxing in the hammocks. This...
