Visited with my wife in April. I couldn’t feel more comfortable recommending this hotel. The staff were wonderful and the location exceptional. We stayed in the actual hotel so the rooms were a little old style but very clean and comfortable. We loved it.

Frette Lines, Molton Brown toiletries, afternoon snack, breakfast, fishing, canoeing, biking, bon fire, laying in the grass and star watching, swimming pool, hot tub, bar with light meal, all nestled in the mountains....fresh air included. You can even hear the neighboring rooster crow. This is summer camp atmosphere kicked up several notches. Staff friendly. Rooms decorated beautifully.

We stayed over Labor Day weekend for 3 nights in the Woodland Suite (the nicest rooms on the property with a soaking tub and fireplace) and had a really nice time! We chose this resort for a few reasons: 1) driving distance from KY (we made it without bathroom breaks!), 2) exterior entrances to each room felt very covid safe to us, 3) No children, 4) the beautiful pool. The resort lived up to our expectations in so many ways, less so in others. While I felt very safe at the resort, I felt less safe on the free shuttle into town- masking not really enforced. Guests were drinking cocktails in the shuttle and not masking really at all. But I suppose that's better than drunk driving? I don't really know. Amenities at the resort were great- we canoed, enjoyed the fire pit, LOVED our room. The heater for the pool and hot tub was broken during our stay, sadly, but it was warm enough during the day to still use them. Too cold at night. We are from Kentucky, and due to the pandemic, the Derby was moved to Labor Day this year. A fun surprise, the resort was doing Derby themed apps, broadcasting the race, etc which we were really excited about. We asked the bartender (a brunette with long hair) if she could make a Mint Julep. She didn't know what that was, and when I explained to her- nicely "Oh it's the classic Derby drink!!", she was really snotty about it and said, "I don't think that many people care about the Derby". Okkkkayyyy, well your employer clearly does since they're having a themed evening? Honestly this stuck with me more than the broken pool or shuttle. Just so oddly rude. The evening apps and breakfast were really good! And the waitstaff in the "restaurant" were well trained and kind. We had a great conversation with a young lady on our last day- it was her FIRST day- and she was doing some kind of internship program from abroad? Very cool that Halfmile participates in that. I'd love to be back and give them another try, but we are now expecting our first baby, so I think "kid-free" resorts may be in our past for a bit :)

Response from Amanda Sullivan, Marketing at Half-Mile Farm by Old Edwards

We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed most aspects of your stay over Labor Day last year. We love guest feedback, including areas for improvement, and we wish you had shared your shuttle experience while in house with us so we could have reinforced our safety measures with the driver. The hotels of Old Edwards Hospitality group employed strict, industry-leading measures to protect our staff, community and guests from the pandemic, and we apologize that you felt less than safe during your shuttle ride. Regarding the Mint Julep incident, that is totally unacceptable behavior and, suffice it to say, that employee was not here for long. Again, we apologize for these two glitches in your stay and are happy to hear that you will give Half-Mile Farm another try when you're once again ready for a grown-up getaway. Meanwhile, congratulations on the upcoming addition to your family! We hope you relish every moment of that precious time in your lives.

We were there for the weekend, actually doing a honey presentation. But, we were treated like all the guests and had such a wonderful time. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and became quick friends. The property is beautiful and the food (AND COCKTAILS) were wonderful. They have special event weekends in the winter focused on small artisanal food producers - all highend and small batch. Weekends before us there us a chocolatier (Really yummy!) and after us a pie maker... so fun as well as really delicious! We have stayed at Old Edwards Inn (the parent resort) previously and loved everything about it. Even though I'm local, my Atlanta girlfriend is coming up for the weekend and we're splurging with a night at the Inn and spa treatment. Everything is relaxing and top notch. It's definitely a special experience.
