We are frequent visitors to Highlands, NC (have been since late 1970's). First time staying at Fire Mountain. Beautiful property located about 9 miles from Highlands. Given that Highlands was extremely busy and crowded, we were especially thankful that we were somewhat removed. Stayed in the Satohla room. Beautiful sunrise and sunset mountain views. Hiked around property on first day....

A year ago, January 1, 2016, at this time in the evening I had just returned from a fabulous day of hiking with a friend to settle into the comfort of the Star Maiden Room. We had headed off that morning filled with a delicious breakfast served in a beautiful room by hosts who seemed to think of absolutely every...

My husband and I stayed at Fire Mountain Inn last April for the first time. Our room, Star Maiden, is off of the library as are a few other rooms. They were vacant while we were there and so it was like having this huge luxurious suite all to ourselves. We sat and watched sunset from a cozy couch in...

Chose the Inn based on the internet..the pictures were wonderful but could not do the property justice. The fine details placed into each room and the property itself were above expectations. Would have been nice to have a TV, but this place is not meant for entertainment, it's meant for pure relaxation and reconnecting with nature. Can't beat the mountain...

The fire and water dining experience is what you would hope to discover on any excursion, domestic or abroad. It is a hidden treasure, that once discovered, is whispered to others for fear of losing the intimacy. No worry! Hiram and Matthew successfully attract the repeat guest without catering to those interested in the next new "hot spot"

We visited the Fire Mountain Inn for a quick get away at the peak of fall. We reserved a week before departure, as we made plans very last minute. And what a wonderful find it was! We had been to the Highlands, NC area fifteen years before and had forgotten how beautiful it is. The Inn is only a short...

My wife and I chose this Inn based on reviews we read about it and the surrounding area. The Inn exceeded my expectations. It was a combination of great service, excellent breakfast, immaculate grounds and rooms, and especially stunning views of the mountains and sunsets. The hiking nearby is excellent, the town of Highlands is quaint but also has excellent...

Awesome! Private, secluded, great mountian views, great food, wonderful staff. Great get-a-way for a romantic few days or longer. Close to the Highlands offering shopping and good restuants as well. Great place for hiking!

This was our third rejuvenating visit to Fire Mountain Inn. This time we stayed in one of the cabins, having stayed at the inn previously. No TV, no phones, no worries. I actually read 2 actual non-electronic books while I was there. When did life get so crazy??? Hiram and Mathew are superb hosts. Since our last visit, FMI has...

I can hardly find the correct words to describe the recent visit my husband and I had this past week @ Fire Mountain. Of course, the scenery is second to none with beautiful mountain vistas, wooded walking trails, autumn colors in the trees. But also the ambience @ Fire Mountain itself is also second to none. As quiet and relaxing...
