Modest but well maintained resort. Poor soundproofing of the room. Some restaurants and activities were closed, although we were there for Memorial Day Weekend. The Wildwood Grill Restaurant (outdoor sitting) was fabulous and even inexpensive. Service was slow. The pool (and Lazy River) were freezing cold. Wi-Fi was available only in some spots (eg., main lounge).

We wanted a fun, quick and relaxing working getaway. However we were out of business here. There is no mobile signal and virtually un-useable WiFi. We stayed one night, did not receive a refund. Now, on the other side.... If you don't need either of these services (Mobile or WiFi) this is an amazing place to stay. Awesome management team, great facilities, relaxing,,,and much more

This is a difficult review to give. On one hand I've been coming here every year since 2010 with our car group and we always have a blast but on the other hand we are definitely not coming because the accomodations are luxurious. In addition, the "gift card scandal" of 2020 has left an extremely bad taste in my mouth for Fontana. More on that below. Cabins - 1 star -The condition of the Azalea cabins gets a little worse each year. The dip in the kitchen floor is so steep that by next year I don't think a table leg will touch the ground. - The beds are extremely uncomfortable and the linens and blankets have become so old that I use my own. - This year the cabinets started showing there age and are starting to peel. - The light switches were absolutely disgusting, they actually had dirt hunker up on them in the bedroom. - The cabin does have great water pressure Wildwood Grill - 2 stars The food here is hit or miss depending on the staff for the season. The pizza this year was definitely not as good as in years past. Amenities - 5 stars Fontana has tons to do here in the summer time. Big bon fires, putt putt golf, frisbee golf, pools, lazy river and various weekly itineraries means there is always something to do. Gift Cards- In 2019 Fontana offered $1000 gift cards for only $500. Several of my friends as well as myself took part in the deal. When covid hit we had to reschedule our stay for 2021. In-between buying the gift card and 2021 the owners dropped their lease with the TVA. Once all the paperwork was done the TVA released a press release and hid a sentence in the middle saying they wouldn't accept gift cards. I understand covid hit everyone hard but for no formal apology to be made and no own to own up to this really left a bad taste in my mouth about Fontana. Fontana is owned by the TVA and lease holders only seem to last a couple of years. The cabins and in desperate need of maintenance and updating. I feel like if they don't get them soon they will start falling apart but since the TVA owns it and this place has a bad track record for owners I understand why the leasee wouldn't want to. This place has so much potential thought - I really hope the new current owners will put there money in updating the rooms. There is so much potential here. You will have a fun time here too as long as you don't have high expectations for the cabins.

The property and lodge are very nice, the restaurant in the lodge had great food and the service was wonderful. We were severely disappointed when we finally managed to get the door to our room opened, it was warped or something (note: we were not in the lodge). The room smelled moldy and mildewy. The furniture and fixtures were severely outdated, the room was quite large but that didn't make up for the smell. We had dead bugs by the bathtub and when we went out onto the little deck attached to the room we discovered that one whole side wasn't connected and it bounced when you stepped on it, several boards were warped very badly. They tell you free internet, but we couldn't get on the internet unless we went into the lodge. No USB ports in the room so we couldn't charge our phones, and the phone in our room had definitely seen better days. At least the sheets were clean, but for the rate we paid, we will never stay here again.

My husband and I stayed in our own 2 bedroom cabin with full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, Jacuzzi tub. It was very clean and well maintained. The property was beautiful and we found our experience to be very relaxing and enjoyable. The restaurants were top notch. I would highly recommend.
