This place was actually great for a night and looked recently renovated. But the best thing was hot breakfast. Well it was just eggs and sausage but considering how other Fairfield inn I have been too was basic continental, I was ok with this. Better than ok. Besides the fact there was a rude neighbor blasting the TV at 3am, it was an enjoyable night. And yes staff was awesome.
Not my best experience... check in was smooth & uneventful, room is where the issue lies! Bed linen was a bit rumpled among other minor oversights but not a deal breaker. Wiped down & disinfected simply because the cleanliness was questionable for such a small room. Nevertheless, got unpacked to head out and that's when I noticed the mold in the sink. Stopped by the front desk on the way out to inform them of my find. Abby let me know there was nothing she could really do. She did offer to move us to another room when we returned but it was late and again the cleanliness was questionable plus I disinfected THIS room. Not my best experience nor at the standards of a Marriott brand!
The hotel was under renovations and this visit was during COVID, so they were dealing with that. They were offering handwipes and whatever else you needed to stay 'safe'. The pool (the whole first floor) was not open--yet. There were some minor flaws in our room and on the floor, but we chalked it up to the renovation. The staff was super helpful and friendly--a bit of that 'southern' charm?? The breakfast was not the norm, but that was due to COVID and they were trying different ways to accommodate the guests. They have a nice patio outside where you could sit and relax or smoke. They also had a couple of grills off to one side--not sure if they allow people to use them or if they do promos with them. They are directly across the street from the Casino (which we did not go to), but were quite a walk (I would drive) to the touristy part of town. There is so much to do in the area--especially if you like the outdoors. The creek running through town is good enough to wade in, kids swim in it. Beautiful town for the most part.…
I chose this hotel for my trip because it is a Marriott property and I trust their brand. The positive features: Location! Directly across the road from the casino. Situated at a crosswalk it was an easy walk to and from the casino. It was well lit at night and I felt safe on the very short walk back to the hotel. The breakfast! The breakfast included everything you could possibly want from hot and delicious make-your-own waffles to sausage, eggs, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit and much more. The staff was attentive and ensured the area was clean and fully stocked. The staff! The hotel staff was amazing. Very courteous and accommodating. Allowed us to check in two hours earlier than the normal check in time. Cleanliness! The room was clean. The property was clean. The lobby is really nice and the refreshments (spa water and coffee area) were a nice touch. The only negatives / criticism: The bed was not comfy (in my opinion). It was very firm with no pillow top. The heat/air unit was noisy - rattled loudly each time it kicked on. (All throughout the night) Startled me awake. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was loud and rattled when on. Showing it’s age a bit. No bathroom privacy. The whirl tub room has the whirl tub situated in between the bed and the bathroom and only offers a shower type pull curtain for privacy to the potty. I know this is supposed to be a romantic feature but I don’t like it. It seemed tacky to me. I don’t want to be heard or seen when I go potty. I would definitely stay here again but not in a whirl tub room. The staff and breakfast definitely made up for the problems experienced in a somewhat dated room.…
Our stay at the Cherokee Fairfield was perfect. I've never been disappointed with any of my Marriott stays. They always make us feel welcome and comfortable. Jo greeted us with a smile at the front desk when we checked in and the following day. She was wonderful and happy to help in any way. Also Betty who cleaned our room was also super friendly and brought us extra towels and pillows and she was quick to help in any way with a smile. We stayed in room 212 and had a beautiful view. Also breakfast was delicious. Great waffles and cheese omelets..I would choose to stay here everytime I visit Harrah's casino since it is located right across the street from the casino entrance. Enjoyed our visit!
