With winds causing all kinds of power outages, we decided to drive down to Carolina Beach NC. My girlfriend had never been and I had not either in many years. And finding a pet friendly hotel was a bigger challenge than we expected. But upon a friend's recommendation, we checked out Drifters Reef and that was it the best move all day. It is in such a great location there. The room was nice and clean. There is a doggie playground. And the bed was super comfortable. Michela was very friendly and accommodating. We will certainly be back again!

My husband & I just got a puppy.. so we were looking for a reasonably priced place to stay that was pet friendly. Drifters Reef is definitely a “get what you pay for” type of spot. The rooms are well equipped, & everything worked properly. Could of been cleaned better... but wasn’t disgusting. Beds were pretty comfortable actually! My biggest issue was the lack of staff/surveillance on the property. During our Saturday night stay there was a wedding reception at the lazy pirate (which is owned by the same person apparently). Thank God that we walked to an early dinner that night bc there was NO parking when we got back. The front desk just asks for make & model of your car... bust doesn’t enforce any parking restrictions between the two establishments. A lot of the guests from the wedding also stayed at the motel so it was extremely loud. We made friends with our room neighbors and they told us that they let people live here and they had an encounter where some drunk men were harassing her mother. The most worrisome thing that happened to us was my husband locked himself out of the room one night. While I was chatting with our neighbor, he went to the front desk to explain what happened. They didn’t ask for ID or anything and just have him a new key. We will not stay here again. It was a last minute trip for us, & with this being the off season I couldn’t imagine what it is like here during their busy season. Can definitely find better places on VRBO for a little more if you plan ahead.

Glad we could bring our dog, but if you pay $30 per night extra pet fee, and stay on a cold tile floor, (bring your slippers), there shouldn't be pet hair all over from previous guests. All that aside, very close to everything and doesn't kill your bank account.

The staff was friendly and fast to check us in. The building has cute art on it! Dog friendly. Our room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. However, bring your ear plugs if you plan to go to bed early. Their restaurant next door has an outdoor band that plays late.

My family stayed in the apartment. It was very spacious but had some downfalls. There was gross stuff smeared at the top of some of the walls. Probably 7 feet up, so I could see how the cleaning crew would miss it, but gross nonetheless. We still enjoyed the apartment and hotel and would return. The parking spaces are very small, but most are in Carolina Beach. I had to park my truck at the very end just to fit. But it all worked out and we had a good trip.
