This place cannot be any closer to the beach; otherwise you'll be on the ocean itself. Beach can be accessed as soon as you step away from your room with the stairs coming down to it. Surf is high here and during high tide and wind the water come under the 2nd floor. Parking is right by the room but in summer can be tight but plenty of parking across the street in their sound side motel. There is nothing on one side of the Motel since it the preserve. So more seculded than other motels in the area. The motel is basic but have everything you need. It is also close to few eateries and grocery. laundry facility is downstairs but need $4 in quarters for a washer and dryer cycle. Also has a deep fridge for your fish, a vacuum cleaner and vending machine. One thing to note, maintain the SPEED LIMIT please. The motel is off the preserve where speed drops from 55 mph to 35 in a heartbeat and cops are there waiting to get some revenue. This a big money maker for the towns all over NC where speed limits drops without any warning or graduated slow downs. Lawyers and courts make good money as well by downgrading your tickets. …
This motel is not at the beach but ON the beach. We stayed one night and it was a unique and unforgettable experience in a great way. The noise of the surf went on all night and a was a very restful night. Suzy at the office was very nice and we got to check in early.
I came to Buxton to fish and booked this motel because they advertised amenities for fishermen such as a cleaning station and freezer. These were provided and the freezer was especially welcome. My room overlooked the ocean and it was clean and fresh when I arrived. The beds were comfortable and the room had all the necessary amenities including a coffee maker and small refrigerator. It was spacious and quiet so you would be lulled to sleep by the sound of the breakers outside. The motel is starting to show its age and could use a few upgrades but it didn't detract at all from my stay. However, if you are traveling now with C19 restrictions in place, there was no room service provided. That means you needed to bring towels and bedding to the office for replacements. Which was happily done. Otherwise it was up to you to keep your room tidy which was no hardship for me. The staff was very helpful and friendly throughout my stay and added to my comfort. One small thing was the last hurricane had deposited about four feet of sand into the parking areas and they were not fully cleared as yet. Even so there was ample parking but you may have to walk a few extra steps. Overall it was a pleasant stay and you could even fish right in front of your room. What could be better than that?…
We had an oceanfront room, in a building set on pilings; at high tide the water often came right through the pilings and flooded the carpark on the other side. You really can't get closer to the seafront than that ! A very comfortable room; nothing fancy but clean and adequate. The only gripe was that we did not know that the microwave did not come with cutlery or crockery; it would have been nice to know so we could bring our own stuff instead of having to hit the local grocery store for absent items.
We stayed here in October. The view exceeded our expectations. The ocean a few steps away. Perfect to relax and read a book on the deck. The room was clean and we did not feel unsafe during Covid-19. We will return as soon as we can .
