It was just average for a Holiday Inn, the staff was nice the hotel was older and needs some work. The breakfast was adequate but we had better on the rest of our stays during the week. It was only 5 minutes from downtown which was handy. We found a restaurant called Kitchen that had just opened the night we were there very good food and a nice atmosphere.
The staff at the front desk (Wendy and Matt) were pleasant and helpful. But the hotel itself seems to be a disaster. It is old and the staff acknowledge it is due to be renovated some time soon. A new Holiday Inn Express is currently being built close by. Our stay was marred by a toilet that did not flush forcing us to use a "public" toilet near the elevator on the ground floor. The fridge in the room also made about as much noise as an idling school bus. We were unable to talk to each other over the noise, and certainly could not have slept with it, so we unplugged it and the staff let us put some thing in the fridge in the hotel kitchen. Bottom-line: the hotel does not live up to what you pay for it.
This Hotel was perfect. Clean, friendly staff, free breakfast, good coffee; what more can a fellow ask for in the mountains of NC! The front desk person was helpful to give us some local favorites information.
Stayed here one night. Check in was smooth; parked in back, key card reader at back door didn't work so had to go clear around to the front to get in. Rooms were okay, standard layout for Holiday Inn Express. Upon the second time going to my room, key card didn't work so had to go back to the desk to get it re coded. Quiet night and good rest. The next morning breakfast didn't go so well. The attendant seemed far too concerned to put too much food out at once. All items emptied and he only replaced enough for a couple people at a time. He was very friendly and stayed outside the kitchen to chat, but even with a line of people waiting he didn't seem to care enough to stay on task. We were delayed 45 minutes waiting on breakfast. I know we could have moved on and caught it on the…
This is where we stay when we are in Brevard. This hotel has always been well kept and the one time we did have an issue, was rectified immediately. Their staff is very nice, the rooms are clean and have comfortable beds. There is a pool so if you have kids, this is a good spot to be. And, its close to the waterfalls, restaurants and lots of stores. Its a great place. Also pet friendly.
