This hotel is on the National Register, very pretty grounds, pretty building & close to downtown. I would have rated a 5, but, the guy above us started pacing at 0800 and walked every square inch of his room. All wood floors throughout made for a little lack of noise reduction. The staff were very accommodating, my girlfriend and I...

The Monte Vista was the perfect place for a quick overnight up in the mountains. It's very similar to a bed & breakfast, but with about 40 rooms, it is more like an inn. It was exactly what we were looking for - clean, convenient, friendly staff and unique (not a chain hotel). Breakfast was included and the dining room...

We spent the night and 2 days in Black Mountain at the Monte Vista in September and have dined there on several other occasions. Black Mountain is a wonderful little town with great shops and beautiful areas close by for hiking. My first impression, having shortly before stayed at the Inn at Lake Lure, was how refreshing the interiors were....

The hotel is everything I expected from a smaller B&B style hotel. Staff was awesome and very helpful, room was spotless, glass of wine at the bar was delicious just as the bartender recommended. Also very knowledgeable about the area and gave plenty of tips on where to eat and the local craft breweries in town, most within walking distance....

We had a wonderful stay at the Monte Vista Hotel in Black Mountain. I've traveled to Black Mountain several times, and I know it's a local favorite. The inside of the hotel is warm and inviting, and it was great to be off the road. Our room was cozy and beautifully furnished, and our bed was comfy. We slept really...

We did not stay at the Hotel, but we did have Thanksgiving dinner there. Very nice dinner, well prepared and presented. Our waiter was friendly and enjoyed talking with him. the dining areas were nice. It was a pleasant place to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner when you are away from home. Monte Vista Hotel is located in Black Mountain, and we...

We were appalled at how spare the room was: no towel racks, one picture on wall, walls extremely thin, no TV, no lamps within reach of bed, no clock. We heard every footfall above and every word uttered in the hallway. The bed squeaked at every twitch. We were expected to request a blow dryer and iron from front desk....

We go to Asheville, Black Mountain, and Montreat often, and this is now our go-to place to stay. We showed up earlier than anticipated, but our room was ready and waiting. The staff was super helpful from the moment we walked in the door, offering to take our bags up. And after a cold, windy weekend, the steaming, high-pressure shower...

The room was very charming and cozy and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the highlights of Black Mountain and we were able to check out the shops (cute crafts, wine stores, outdoor supplies, etc) and restaurants that were only a few blocks away. We had breakfast at the hotel both mornings we were...

Arrived at about 4pm for an overnight stay (reserved the night before online). Nobody in the lobby to greet us. We had to ask and finally a clerk came from the bar area to check us in and show us to our room on the second floor. No elevator, not for the faint of heart (and there are 3 floors!)....
