Mill House is a beautiful 16th century cottage, nestled by the river Coquet, providing a tranquil and stunning place to escape. Award Winning B&B now due to COVID providing a perfect retreat as a private Cottage for 2-4 guests, and new addition Hare Lodge for self catering, 2-4 guests only. The cottage provides welcome continental breakfast provisions, no cooked breakfast, with a wee kitchenette (think camper van, no conventional oven, microwave only) to prepare simple meals and reheat light suppers and lunches. There is always a warm welcome with secluded sitting areas to dine alfresco or take a romantic supper by the log burner. Fabulous pubs a short drive also offering click and collect and Amble a 20 minute cycle ride for fantastic food at The Old Boathouse.

We stayed at the new Hare Lodge which was only completed earlier this year. The attention to detail and facilities in this wonderful cabin were the best I have experienced anywhere. I cannot praise this accommodation highly enough. The lovely owner Karen was on hand if needed to answer any questions, offering suggestions for places to dine and visit. I’m so happy for her that since the initial COVID outbreak people are now able to start booking with her as she deserves the business. The amount of work she puts in to maintaining the property is obvious from the moment you step in the door. All fixtures and fittings are first class and the location virtually on the banks of the River Coquet in the beautifully quiet Northumberland countryside yet only 5 minutes from the A1 is just perfect. Have just returned from this beautiful b and b in the Northumberland countryside,the hostess Karen is a lovely person and very knowledgeable and helpful regarding places to visit.eat and drink etc.she even booked us our meals,taxis and gave us a lift to the restaurant on our first evening. The bedroom and bathroom are excellent..warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean. I'm saving the best for last though..the breakfasts are seriously the best I have EVER eaten,all food locally sourced,daily fresh and beautifully cooked on Karen's argar.cant praise this place enough and will be back.

We decided to stay at Mill House as we were visiting our youngest son in Newcastle where he is at university and wanted to spend some time in Northumbria before returning home. Following a night in Newcastle, we made our way up the A1 to Mill House, a journey of about 40 minutes. We were welcomed on arrival by Karen who very kindly booked a table for us at the local restaurant and then made us a pot of tea and home made cakes wich we ate in the snug, this is for residents only and Karen lit the wood burning stove so it was lovely and cosy. We had the upstairs bedroom which was fabulous, with a private bathroom just across the hall, this wasn't an issue as we were the only people upstairs so there wasn't a problem of bumping into anyone en route to the bathroom. Breakfast was served at a time of our choice and this was lovely and filled us up for the day. On our second night Karen again arranged a table for us at another local restaurant and on our return she had lit the fire for us in the snug so it was really cosy and she had also lit the candles dotted around the room, it was very welcoming and felt like home from home. Karen was so friendly it felt like we were chatting to a friend, she had lots of information about the local area and maps available to borrow if needed. I would say karen went over and above to ensure that we had a relaxing time, I would not hesitate to stay here again and am already planning when we can escape to Mill House again.
