We stayed at the Lodge for three nights in September and the experience was both relaxing and exhilarating. The design of the whole complex is beautiful and every effort was made by the staff to make our stay perfect. We really enjoyed the time spent both in the Lodge and on trips to the surrounding areas to see the wildlife...

Dear dianapen2014 Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We're delighted you enjoyed yourself at the lodge and hope to welcome you back again one day - perhaps for a little longer! In addition to the chimpanzee tracking and safari activities in Queen Elizabeth national park, we invite our guests to take part in the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership...

The accommodation and lounge area here are certainly impressive and a quirky mix of recycled shabby chic / industrial recycling and natural materials (don't be put off it's very well done), but for me it lacked some of the personal touch of Bwindi and MtGahinga Volcanoes Lodges. It is well located for Kyambura Gorge (if you want to see chimps...

The lodge is impeccably designed and we particularly liked the way the central dining/lounge area was laid out. The new villas, facing towards Queen Elizabeth Park were absolutely stellar and brilliantly different from most of the traditional 'bandas' you find in Africa. We were lucky enough to have an outside shower (as well as an indoor one) which proved a...

Dear Peter B Thanks for taking the time to write a review of Kyambura Gorge Lodge. We are delighted to read that you had such a good time with us. Kyambura Gorge Lodge has won awards for its unique 'upcycled' and contemporary design. Its spacious interiors look out onto the expanse of the Rift Valley. We are very happy to...

We stayed here for four nights when visiting QE11 National Park. The location is wonderful overlooking the gorge and I will always remember our final morning,- having done the packing, sitting on the veranda on the swing seat watching the elephants on the opposite hill. Food was excellent, they come and ask what you want each day and the staff...

Dear Dick L We're delighted you had such a great time with us. The walk to the reclaimed - and now thriving - wetlands area (once a brickworks) and the Coffee Tour have been developed by Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust. We hope you also had a chance to sample the co-operative's coffee at the VSPT's Omwani Cafe? We are very...

Dear katl1978 Many thanks for your great review. Very happy to read you had such a good time. Thanks for recommending us. We believe that the combination of the dramatic views across the Rift Valley and down into Kyambura Gorge itself give Kyambura Gorge Lodge the best views of any lodge in or adjacent to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The lodge is in a great position with views of QE II park and the Rwenzori Mountains in the background. However the lodge is starting to become run down, a lot of maintenance is required to bring it up to standard. The place looks tired. You wouldn't swim in the pool. The staff are friendly and keen to help and...

Dear EJBeck Thanks for taking the time to share feedback. We have passed on your comments to the lodge manager. The style of Kyambura Gorge Lodge is eclectic or 'shabby chic' which reflects our company philosophy of reusing and recycling existing materials.  As you may know, the lodge was once a coffee processing plant. The contemporary interior design is very popular with...

Nice room with stylish bathroom. The water in the shower was warm and under the pressure. Not like other places. Wi-fi was poor and just in the restaurant, but who needs that with a lovely view and swimming pool :)

Dear Dana D Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The contemporary interior design of Kyambura Gorge Lodge is always popular. We stayed three nights at this lodge, having chosen it for the luxury reputation. The Volcanoes Safaris lodges are supposed to be some of the nicest in Uganda and Rwanda. We had really a great Easter break! Nicely furnished rooms, amazing view, very good service and food. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the cost of the drinks (definitively pricey) and some challenges in linking with UWA and other local tourist service providers. Overall greatly recommended but better to plan what and how to visit in advance

If I had to use one word to describe this incredible place, it would have to be WOW. Certainly not a very sophisticated word but that is what comes to mind. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the edge of the Kyambura Gorge and Queen Elizabeth National Park, in Uganda, one of Africa's finest national parks, Volcanoes newest lodge, Kyambura Gorge Lodge, has stunning views over the Gorge and the lush savannah of the park, with the peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. The main lodge building was originally a coffee store and processing plant, surrounded by coffee plantations. The original structure has been sensitively restored to create a stunning living space, balancing the history of the building with the location and creating a series of distinct luxurious contemporary spaces for guests. Eight beautiful, spacious bandas have been carefully nestled into the hillside, each with their own luxury bathroom. Each room has a different aspect of the panoramic views across the gorge, savannah and mythical Rwenzoris. Each banda is uniquely appointed, adopting a different colour theme. ... more   less
