Mbweni Ruins was a lovely, peaceful retreat outside of Stone Town, but still close enough to go in for a day trip. We stayed in number 14, which was a top floor room at the end and has a lovely balcony overlooking the beach. Our room was quiet and had a good air conditioner. Mbweni Ruins is a great base...

I love this place! The stunning views, the wholesome delicious food, the towering and rich flora and fauna... this place is what magic is made of. We had originally come for a one hour lunch meeting, but ended up watching the sun go down sipping on Chardonnay. It is a rather simple and straightforward place, bit I suppose it is...

My friend and I stayed here last month and found the whole experience lovely. We were worried about staying a bit out of Stone Town, but it was really very accessible, either cheaply by taxi or with the free van that the hotel provides several times a day. There are some lovely old ruins to walk round, as well as...

I did not wish to stay in Stone Town but wanted to be close. Protea Hotel was ideal as far as distance to ST was concerned. I was more than pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful its location was. I can only describe it as idyllic. Views, beach and comfort couldn't be better. Farida, who checked me in, has made...
