This is a lovely quaint little hotel well located in Stone Town. The décor is gorgeous and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It has a lovely little garden area and pool where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine. Great place to stay.

Located in heart of Stone Town within easy walking distance of all attractions, restaurants, etc. Has a small swimming pool which is a bonus after an outing in sweltering Stone Town. Room was comfortable, clean and if you get a room facing the sea (Ferry Port) you will have a cooling breeze most of the day. These rooms can be...

My husband stayed at Kholle House near the end of our monthlong travels around Kenya and Tanzania on our honeymoon. We loved it so much, we changed our itinerary to stay there longer, cutting short our trip to Pongwe in order to return to beautiful Stone Town. Kholle House is conveniently located near the ferry, and beautifully restored, with lovely,...

Stayed at Kholle on my honeymoon in December 2016. We stayed two nights at first before heading to an east-coast beach resort, but ended up coming back (early!) from the beach for another two nights at Kholle because we were simply so charmed by Stone Town and this hotel and staff in particular. Each room is different but they're all...

Kholle House was an absolutely delightful experience. Their house manager, Shabnaam and their chef, Rabia were amazing people who looked after every need, we could not have asked for anything more. A truly wonderful experience. We felt like we are home away from home. Kholle House was built in 1890 for Princess Sayyidat Kholle. Princess Kholle was the daughter of...

Stonetown is like one big 1001 nights fairytale. Kholle house fits right in that experience. Friendly staff, who serve a nice a la cart breakfast. Extra points: I wasn't feeling to well on the day of our check-out and we could use the room until we left. Very considerate.

What a beautiful hotel! Staff are all outstanding. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Food is amazing traditional dishes. We spent New Year here and wished we had stayed much longer! A rich history of both the hotel and the area. Definitely built for princesses and princes. Come here to go back in time and forget today's troubles. Only negative...

This is a beautiful boutique hotel with an interesting history. The deluxe room had two balconies, one private and one shared, and the toiletries in the bathroom were from a local small business. Breakfast was good and there is a lovely small swimming pool. It is on the edge of Stone Town within a five minute walk of Foradhani Gardens.

We stayed here for only one night, during our cycle tour around Zanzibar. When we arrived there, we were really muddy and dirty but the friendly staff gave us immediately our room to take a shower, ID and paperwork could wait☺ The interior is very autentic and special. Also the patio with small swimmingpool and the several terraces are nice....

Kholle House fact sheet:Services & Facilities:• Wi-Fi available• Outdoor swimming pool• Transport to/from airport if required at an additional charge. Zanzibar airport and Dar es Salaam airport – ferry dock• Island tours and sea activities assistanceKholle House in the heart of Stone Town is an historical and authentic house build in 1860 which belonged to Princess Kholle. Sister of Sayyid Sultan bin Bargash and Princess Salme. The house has probably been there as a showcase from their crystal collection and porcelain. After the revolution in 1964 the house was confiscated and occupied by several families, this period caused severe damages in the house. Three years of restoration has bring us the pleasure to present our town beloved house, the work done in connection with historical monuments and in full respect with the construction methods in the time (coral rubble, lime, mangrove beams, marble…). With an noble and austere façade the building is typically Omani Arabic style while the garden has more Indo-Victorian fantasy rhythms. This style is featured on the covers of the old dispensary which faces Kholle House and was restored by the Ada Khan Foundation. ... more   less
