What a lovely country and genuine people hear in Mauritius! Very friendly staff in the Shangrila hotel, beach side luxury rooms and delicious food . A special thanks to chef Ahmad in the El Bazar Resturant. We had a very nice holiday and enjoyed it so much, would certainly come again, thank you for this unforgettable trip with the best memories to remember.
I have just enjoyed 2 ½ weeks at the Shangri-La Le Touessrok. Location. The location is out of this world. On a beautiful long beach. My tour guide (Summer-Times Tours) told me, that the hotel is situated on the longest “hotel beach” of all the hotels in the country. Preparing my arrival – Front office staff support I bet both parties felt challenged. I planned my visit in connection with the re-opening og Mauritius, on the back of the Covid lock down. Regardless of the need to ask too many questions, to be safe and prepared for an arrival to another country, the Front Office staff replied patiently and correctly regarding all national admin requirements for foreigners arriving to Mauritius. Fitness facilities. If you are looking for great fitness facilities, which are not stock in a basement or dark corner, this very well-equipped Fitness Centre is overlooking a pool area and has large windows allowing for natural light to flow in. Often debated amongst female guests as a “safe fitness centre”. You do not feel alone, you are not stock in a basement room. Very important. The Fitness Management offers fitness classes throughout the day from early morning. All classes run by professional trained staff. Let me say, on a personal note; Dominique, who was my 07.00 hours trainer made me feel 10 years younger, even though he did one day tell me to stop. “Relaxing is also important” – he is right, still his professionalism makes me smile. SPA The SPA is a nice tranquil area with great staff, who pays attention and soon “reads” their guests’ needs, requirements and wishes. Professional all the way through. Dietary requirements The Chef of “The Republic” restaurant has made sure; I will return next year. I require a daily protein smoothie as part of my battle against an inflammatory condition. I brought my collagen and protein to the restaurant, a smoothie was prepared for me at NO hesitation, served with a wonderful smile – every time! (I wish I could do with the great menu offered, I cannot, and no one made me feel awkward once they had information on my requirements. On the contrary, everyone tried to make me comfortable, regardless of me feeling very humble. I look at the nutritional value of my food before I look to the “fine dining” aspect. I can glance at a plate of food and instantly calculate if it meets my daily needs in terms of protein, fibre, vitamins, and minerals. I cannot do “fine dining” for weeks on end. Hence the arrival of very impressive vegetarian dished combining plant protein and fibres had a significant impact on my wellbeing. It also made me confident, a longer stay in 2022 will work well. (I have booked already). I am incredibly grateful and humbled by all the efforts made by The Culinary Director and The Chef at “The Republic.” I can fill a page with words of gratitude. General At hotels, there is often one or two staff, who does not make the mark. NOT here! I am humbled and impressed with all the efforts made by the staff. All your staff goes beyond the call of duty to make each guest feel, we are the only one that matters, the special one, and that is quite the skill. It takes efforts and energy, which all your staff gladly invest in their interaction with guests. I am booked – all this trouble (me) is coming back, I can hardly wait.…

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Le Touessrok hotel, both excited to have been there and so so so sad to have left. One week was definitely not enough. We haven't been there in a long time and we were so pleased to see the standard hasn't changed one bit! It's a true 5-star experience. Some new faces, some familiar faces and the service is still as excellent as it was years ago. We were happy to see the hotel was in excellent condition with still the same perfect beach just outside our rooms. We were greeted with a bottle of sparking wine in our room which we gladly enjoyed while looking at the turquoise sea in front of us. The hotel facilities were impeccable. As expected we spent a lot of time enjoying both the adult pool and the family pool. The food was so exquisite at Le Safran restaurant we had a hard time to pick our meals, everything looked so delicious. The Kushi restaurant offered us the best sushi and we had a wide selection of wines to choose from. We had a few trips to the adjacent Ilot Mangenie island where we had a few lunches and walked on the secluded pristine beach. We also enjoyed a few water-ski lessons, pedalo sessions and a very, very exhilarating parasailing adventure! We would like to personally thank those who had helped make this a perfect holiday for us: Deepmala was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed in our room Prince who always carried a smile whenever we had questions for him Steeve Bienvenue at the Boat House for making us laugh and calming my nerves before my parasailing trip! Thank you Steeve!! Marie-Claude at the Boat House for always being so helpful for all the sea activities we wanted to do! I hope to see you guys very soon!! Kind regards, A very happy couple…
My wife and I booked 12 nights in Mauritius, the first 6 at LUX Grand Baie, the second 6 nights at Shangri-La. After an amazing experience LUX, we arrived at Shangri-La, an old fashioned, out dated mess. The entire hotel is extremely poorly lit, understaffed, the staff that are there are miserable. Good luck finding your hotel room at night. There was a gaping hole between the bottom of the patio doors in our room. Called to complain, two service people then arrived and had to take the doors off the hinges for half an hour to rectify the problem. The channel up button on the remote control for the tiny TV didn’t work. The quality of the image on the TV was like something out of the 80s. Awful. The food we experienced that evening was the most disgusting flavourless mess I’ve ever had the misfortune to put in my mouth at a hotel in my entire life. My wife and I were appalled at just how pathetic the food was on that evening, rubbery overcooked steak, the Bolognese was a joke. We paid extra for the Frangipani upgrade, so for breakfast the next morning we had the “upgraded” experience. What a disaster that was. I asked for medium rare steak with poached eggs. Take a look at the photo. What I got were two fried eggs that were burnt on the outside and raw in the middle, with chewy dried out over cooked steak. Pathetic. We booked a taxi within 10 minutes and we’re on our way back to the LUX within half an hour. the total time at this mess of a hotel was 21 hours. Never to return. The manager at the previous hotel told us that he would hold our room for us for 24 hours as three previous guests had returned to the LUX from Shangri-La due to bad experiences. We thought he was just being nice, but he wasn’t, he was telling the truth and had indeed held the room for us, we went straight back to real five star superior luxury at the LUX and will never book another stay at a Shangri-La. If you are spending a lot of money to go to Mauritius and expect a five star stay, you will not find it here. Check out my other review for the other hotel,…
My trip to Shangri-La Le Touessrok was exciting and family friendly. There is a exceptional kids club and the sand is fun for children to make a sand castle. The staff at Shangri-La Le Touessrok are really Kind and go out of there way to give you a pleasant time. I highly recommend chef Ahmed because he try’s he’s absolute best to give you the best time possible he shows you all the food and he recommends dishes for you to try and he has a wonderful personality and if you make a Special request he will try his hardest to help you get what you want. The rooms at Shangri-La Le Touessrok are really good I highly recommend hibiscus suite on the beach so if you open your door you are on the beach. The spa was amazing and the ladies we’re really kind and the spa made us feel rejuvenated. It was very sad to leave Shangri-La Le Touessrok.…
Wow! What an amazing experience. Shangri- La Le tousserok has been truly exceptional. We have just completed a week long family holiday at this beautiful resort with amazing customer service. Chef Ahmed at Le Bazaar was very friendly and hospitable …. Never before have I seen a chef interact and host the guests so well continually checking if they are satisfied and having a good time. The Arabic night at the buffet was the winner. Safran restaurant was also delicious. The hotel has many guests from the Middle East and having halal food is really wonderful. The staff are all kind and helpful and willing to go the extra mile. The ladies at kids club entertained our children very well and the highlight was at the Ile aux cerfs golf course for the complimentary kids golf lessons. The staff at the entrance Mars and Sauntoo were very kind and went out of their way and lend an iPhone charger to us when ours broke. Mahfooz at reception also went out his way to find my shangri-La loyalty details and assist me with retrieving a voucher The property is very beautiful with its own private island, several beaches and lovely restaurants and pools. The Chi spa was also lovely. However it’s the staff and the exceptional customer service that truly make the place.…
A very beautiful resort , they have a private island and lots of activities also they have a very good chief named Ahmed from Egypt it was the best dinner i got in Mauritius i tried the arabian night and it was amazing also the staff was great especially Mr. Rag I strongly recommend this resort .
This was our first time taking a trip to Mauritius and we made the choice to stay at the Shangri La resort. The resort was mind blowing and we had so many things to do and a lot of restaurants to choose from. The staff at the resort were always helpful and at hand, we made a lot of memorable conversations. Dario and his team at Le Bazaar restaurant were so polite and helpful, they were always at our service with a smile. They even remembered our choice of tea and coffee every morning. I would also like to mention Mukesh who we happen to bump into while we walking around the resort. He gave us an amazing tour of the resort and also gave us coconut water to enjoy with a view. Mukesh was so polite and down to earth. I would 100% visit the resort again, as we felt safe, protected, listened to. Keep up the good work :)…
