My husband and I have just returned from an 8 night stay to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. There is so much to be positive about this hotel but a couple of small issues mean that I cannot in all fairness give it 5 stars. The positives: On arrival our daughters had arranged for a bottle of wine to be in the room for us and the hotel had also added a cake with a message and decorated the bed for our anniversary which was a lovely surprise. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, particular mention to Ravenna, Vianey and Darsharnee who were so kind to us. Rooms and facilities all excellent. Obviously it is a newish resort and rooms are a high standard, we did not have any issues with room cleaning in fact they came in twice a day and everything was spotless. We were on the full board option which was an upgrade booked through Voyage Prive and does not seem to be readily available so had good choice of any meals at any of the restaurants although we had to pay for all drinks. The bar staff were really good and the head barman ( unfortunately I did not get his name) remembered our usual order every day and even made me a special cocktail one day based on what he knew I liked. Easy access to the airport and all areas of the island. The negatives: We had one meal at Sea.Fire.Salt and were somewhat disappointed. It is supposed to be the high end restaurant and the choices were very limited and the accompaniments to the main courses were rather bland and all very similar. We both had a creme brûlée which was very over cooked, the cream had curdled and was inedible. When the waiter asked why we had not eaten it and we told him it was overdone he just shrugged and walked off. No alternative was offered. Bearing in mind that almost everything has a high supplement this is not really acceptable. The food was actually better in Horizon. The most important factor in my review however is the pool and lack of heating. This really is unacceptable in a 5 star resort offering year round holidays. We fully accept that we travelled in the winter season so the weather will not be the best and are fine with that. However in winter it is not possible to swim in the sea at the resort due to the dangerous currents caused by the high winds. To us from the UK 23/24 degrees is quite warm and even with the windy weather we were happy to sit by the pool for some sunshine. However the pool temperature is VERY VERY cold. I did swim as I was determined not to let it spoil my holiday but my husband could not tolerate the temperature and in the 8 days I only saw one other person in the pool. Many people were sitting around but as soon as they checked the water they did not go in. To sell itself as an all season 5 star hotel the pool really does need to be heated. I have checked and there are other resorts that have heated pools so it is possible to be done. All in all we had a lovely time and would recommend this hotel to friends and family however the pool issue does need to be considered by management.…
We stayed here for 9 nights at the end of our holiday in Mauritius. After staying in the north we headed here prior to flying home. From initial check in to check out our stay was excellent. The hotel is obviously fairly new and everything was pristine. The rooms were beautiful and very well appointed with lovely comfortable beds and fantastic bathrooms. The public areas were spotless. The beach was certainly the best we experienced and was absolutely fantastic for sunbathing, walking and swimming. It is a public beach but in our experience was never really busy except on a Sunday when locals would come and enjoy the day. There are plenty of sunbeds around the hotel but non on the beach (as this is separate to the hotel) There are two restaurants - both are very good. The staff are an absolute credit to the hotel and company. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to ensure we had a great holiday experience. Nisha, Havis and Siddhi always smiling, always happy to see you and always chatting and giving exceptional service. We had a wonderful evening in 1864 wine tasting with Sommelier Steeven who really knew his stuff and enjoyed imparting his knowledge to us. Who knew there was a wine made from Lyches - absolutely wonderfull. Special mention must also go to Parbhu. What a lovely lad and an exceptional, knowledgable barman. He really looked after us and kept us well hydrated :-) All in all, a fantastic stay at a fantastic hotel well worthy of its 5 stars with 5 star staff to look after your every need. We will certainly be back.…
We have just come back for a 1 week stay at the Anantara Iko. Overall our stay was a pleasant stay but we won't be returning back to this resort We are 3 ladies who have been working very hard so this was our first break in 3 years since the pandemic. We arrived at the resort and discovered that they had put us in a cramped room with 2 double beds and a fold up bed. We had been travelling for 20 hours and were so tired and just wanted to have a shower and rest for a couple of hours. We were brought to our room by one of the receptionists, Raveena. We complained about the fold up bed and asked if we could be moved to another room with 3 beds. We asked if we could speak to the manager, she disappeared and never came back to us. There was no sign of the manager so we decided to go downstairs after waiting for 30 minutes. Eventually we spoke to the Guest Relations Manager MERWYN who went over and above our needs to accommodate us. After making some enquiries he upgraded us at no extra costs. So a big thank you to MERWYN for making our holiday so memorable. We were eventually very happy thanks to your excellent customer service. We were so tired when we arrived after travelling 20 hours and were so disappointed with our room, we just wanted to cry! You listened to us and provided the room we were originally promised, perfect and the fact we were able to “check out” late was a bonus, you made us very happy indeed. Your employers are lucky to have you . Pros The young lady at the gym who organised a walk for us at short notice was superb. Shame we can’t remember her name but she was a delight and so helpful. Yoga and meditation classes were very good if you are an early bird The tall waitress in the Wellbeing restaurant was first class and so was the food, shame we only discovered it on our last day . The staff at the poolside bar were very friendly. AVINASH in particular was always smiling and he looked after us very well and the food at the bar was of good standard. Staff overall were very friendly and went out of their way to make your stay comfortable Cons Our room card keys were continuously not working, there was a fault on the card keys and we had to keep asking reception to activate our cards every day to get into our rooms. Rooms were not cleaned properly, especially the showers where there was mould on the grouting. Receptionists need to go on a customer service course. They were often just sitting around and talking amongst themselves and ignored you when you went to the desk for service. No sunbeds or umbrellas on the beach The main Horizon restaurant – staff need more training. Food was hit and miss and not up to what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Service was very slow and they often forgot your order so we had to wait a long time for our food. We often got served with cold food at breakfast with no apology. We had to wait ages for hot water / tea and we eventually had to go and get them ourselves. According to their website the hotel has 5 restaurants however during our stay there were only 2, plus the bar. The wine cellar was also shut for the whole week so we did not get the experience of the wine tasting which we were so looking forward to. We asked one of the staff why it was closed and were told that the bar man was on annual leave. Dining options were very limited at the ‘Horizon’ restaurant and the al a la carte ‘Sea Fire Salt’ restaurant. For the Sea Fire Salt menu, the choice was very limited and didn’t change throughout our stay, and what is on the menu mostly requires an additional supplement charge. The all inclusive package included mostly salad, soup, one fish dish and one chicken dish. This also applies to the drink’s menu in all the restaurants and the bar, only a small selection of drinks were offered in the all inclusive package. We stayed at the Anantara in Dubai which was far superior. Unfortunately the Anantara Iko did not meet our standards, more like a 4 star hotel.…
My husband and I travelled to Mauritius on our honeymoon and stayed for 10 nights at the Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort. I can honestly say, having travelled a lot, that this is one of the best hotels (if not the best) that we have had the pleasure of staying at. From the moment we arrived to the second we left, the staff could not have gone out of their way more to ensure we had the best time. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning with great attention to detail when it comes to the layout and the decor. The hotel grounds are very well kept and the beach was well maintained. We had a beach access room which provided great views of the sea and it was truly magical being able to open the curtain and walk straight into the sea. The highlights of the room for me would be the relaxing shower and the bed which was extremely comfortable. There was also a lovely bath, a well-stocked mini bar and comfortable seating both in the room and on the terrace. The rooms were kept meticulously clean with our towels being rotated after every use and the floors being kept free of sand despite us brining it into the room with us after every visit to the sea! The food at the hotel was delicious with lots of different options available. At the main restaurant Horizon, we experienced breakfast, lunch and dinner and every meal was just as good as the last. We also had a fantastic meal at the Sea.Fire.Salt restaurant which we enjoyed while looking out onto the beach and listening to the sound of the sea. While we really enjoyed the restaurants, we did opt to eat at the pool bar Karokan quite a bit which offered a more chilled out, fun dining experience which takes me onto the best part of our whole trip - the service! The service throughout the hotel was incredible. Every member of staff, no matter what their role, was polite, helpful and extremely attentive. One thing that really impressed me was how almost everyone remembered your room number after telling them only once or twice, particularly the reception staff and those at the dining areas. I am terrible with names so unfortunately I cannot give credit to those who went above and beyond however I will say that all of the staff at the Karokan pool bar and our friend who made us all of the unforgettable cocktails at the Sea.Fire.Salt bar almost every evening made our trip one which we will remember for years to come and we will forever be grateful for this. With regards to the location of the hotel, it is only a 10 minute journey to the airport therefore I would recommend that even if you do not spend your full trip here, to go and experience even the last couple of nights at this hotel - trust me you will not regret it! The hotel does sit on it's own therefore you can't just leave and walk about however the hotel does have a daily activity programme which will keep you entertained which is accessible for all guests (including things such as snorkelling trips, archery, henna tattooing and rum tasting!). There is also a well-equipped gym with daily classes, tennis courts, a spa (we had an amazing couples massage!), a pool and of course a beautiful beach which hosts water-based activities, free of charge, such as paddleboarding and kayaking. I will highlight that June is winter in Mauritius which meant that whilst it was still sunny and warm most days, it was also very windy and occasionally cloudy and rainy which meant that we were unfortunately unable to experience the water-based activities during our stay due to the sea being quite rough (we did still go in for a swim most days though!). Additionally, you can ask the hotel to assist you with booking day trips which I highly recommend you do so that you can go and explore the beautiful island and then you can return to the luxury of the hotel in the evening. As a final note I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the hotel who made our honeymoon so special particularly the bar men who we got to know so well, you were just fabulous! Lisa and Joe, Room 3007 🙂…
You know When smile can do wonders? This What happened to me… I got this room after speaking to Vishan and Nadia (wonderful front office manager and staff)🙈. I ask for availability for garden or other nice view- I got the front row ocean view😱 i was speachless when I opened the curtains! Just stunning, No matter the Weather, everyday waking up seeing this will give u energy for a whole day! The kindness and attentiveness was superb of these two. And like I wrote smile and genuine conversation brought me to an amazing time that I wont forget! Mauritius u rock!!
My two close friends and I travelled half way across the world for our very first girls holiday to Mauritius where we were fortunate enough to stay at Anantara Iko Mauritius. I have stayed at many 5 star hotels across the world but what stood out to me about Anantara Mauritius is the impeccable service. Particularly note worthy is a member of staff named Kavish, who worked at the concierge desk. Kavish went above and beyond to cater to our every need. He would spend time carefully planning days out, and making recommendations based on what we wanted to do. He was super efficient by ensuring that we maximised our time in Mauritius and got to see everything the island had to offer. He meticulously planned routes and would even co-ordinate with the taxi driver to avoid roads that had ongoing work which would result in delays. We had several amazing day trips and Kavish ensured that we had Irshad (the taxi driver whom we preferred every time we went out). Both of them made us feel extremely comfortable and safe during our trip! Words will not do justice to commend Kavish’s incredible service and attention to detail! Not only did he plan these amazing days but he would equip us with everything we needed without us even realising. For example, when we were famished from discovering a hidden waterfall our taxi driver pulled out drinks from the boot that Kavish had packed for us! He thought of things that we wouldn’t have planned for and always had things packed in the car for us like towels and umbrellas. Kavish always arranged whatever we needed whilst we were at the hotel and he very quickly became the member of staff we turned to as he got things done very promptly and exactly how we wanted it! Further to this, the most sweetest touch from Kavish was the lovely gifts he had arranged for each of us from the sugar factory! I returned home with various types of sugars, teas and soaps! It was an incredible and thoughtful gesture which made our departure all the more sad! Rosemary, the assistant manager was also a great member of staff as she was very attentive. I was impressed with how much attention to detail the staff paid, as they were very accommodating of the fact that I am allergic to dogs, and had a dog chaser stand on guard to ward any away from the main resort area. I did not see a single dog at the hotel throughout the duration of my trip! Anantara was everything you expect a 5 star hotel to be in terms of the amenities and cleanliness. One thing that was slightly disappointing about Anantara Iko Mauritius is that we opted for half board and were rather disappointed by the limited dinner options available to us at the Horizon restaurant, as there wasn’t a buffet available. There was a set menu that didn’t change which was frustrating. Despite this, I would most definitely return to Anantara purely because of the service given to us by Kavish and how safe, enjoyable and amazing he made our trip! We were able tot rule explore Mauritius and see places you wouldn’t be able to find from a google/instagram search because of him!…
We have been there for a break of 2 nights;it was just awesome! Things that must try is the the spa and the different daily activities are great! Got the opportunity to learn a new sport the archery which was well explained by our coach. Food was good the only thing we considered can be improve is the Menu does not change over days. We get the same menu for all the days and drinks are very pricey! Chef Kevin made churros it was just wooow !a little crunch with a smooth yummy taste ! Thanks to Mr sailesh he organized a nice lunch time for our guests they were amazed.
Everything is amazing the location the food the rooms the friendly staff the activities provided from the hotel coming back soon with family Merci beaucoup pour tout le monde spécialy Mrs Rowina de la reception
Our stay was nothing less but AMAZING! Our wedding ceremony was well executed by the hotel team with no minor mistakes, it was magical! Hotel has a beautiful design and incredible natural landscape. Team is very friendly and looked after our every needs! Karokan Bar and Spa are must to try! They also have many complimentary daily activities. If you are planning for a beach wedding, this is the best place.
Anantara Iko Mauritius is an amazing resort on the island, not only for vacation or staycation but also to celebrate special events! We have stayed with them for our wedding ceremony and could not be happier with our choice! The resort is located 10 mins away from the airport, which makes transportation after and before flight smooth and stress free. Rooms and suits are huge and have all amenities for the comfortable and luxury stay! Food and drinks quality is great though out all the meals. There are also complimentary daily activities scheduled from biking, kayaking, yoga to the rum tasking, smoothies, and detox classes. You will be able to find something interesting for your everyday. For the special event there will be designated person who will assist with planning of the event. We had an incredible, intimate beach wedding with a privet dinner, that will stay in our hearts forever!…
