Staying at the inn is like coming home. Not only do you wake and get to gander at the Catskills mountains, or walk down to the rivers edge, but you also get to meet Tim who is the warmest and most thoughtful of hosts. As a bonus he knows all the best activities to fill your days while visiting the Hudson valley. Most comfortable beds !! Best view !! Breakfast of local breads and pastries !! You should feel remiss to pass on an opportunity to stay here.
Once again the Suminski Innski did not disappoint. Tim is a warm, engaging host and the eclectic clientele can make for an enjoyable evening. Thanks Tim . It rained all day but if you enjoy art work or paperbacks, one could spend days searching out the Inn's treasures waiting to be dug up.
I went to Bard College in the 90s so I’ve known the property and the owner, Tim, for a long time. I’ve always loved the Innski. So much so that I chose to live there this year! It’s a magical house in the perfect location. Tim is one of the nicest, most accommodating and friendliest people you might ever meet. The interior is filled with antiques and art, mingled with a jukebox, family style meals, and Bard students. Yes, what all the reviews said are true: it’s not your typical B & B. It can get a bit wild at times (college students live there). You might say things are “outdated,” or in need of a touch up. But the best thing about the Innski—and there are so many—is the vibe. The character and atmosphere. You will welcomed into the fold as if everyone there has always known you. You might end up joining a large group for Sunday brunch with music played by bard students. Or, you might end up talking over wine on the porch. All kinds of fascinating people come through here: artists, activists, writers, professors, world travelers, filmmakers, even someone who worked for President Obama! Yes, you will need to be somewhat independent and laid back because although everyone is very friendly, no one is going to wait on you hand and foot. You are a guest, but you’re also an equal. You become one of the family, of you choose to. For some, this is unnerving. But for most people who stay here (and I’ve seen dozens upon dozens), it is so much more than a place to stay. It’s a place you want to return to and will never forget. In a word: magical.…
I always try to stay here. As my mother would say "its lived in" i love it here having grown up in the area. Wonderful to come back and reminisce with strangers, ha,ha. Igor is great, Ryan is great. Laid back atmosphere. It has plenty of character and charm.
Appropriately Bardian Had a great time, the host was full of good stories and the crowd that came through for a Sunday concert and brunch was a snapshot of the new Hudson valley. Not a 5 star hotel, but better
