Enjoy your stay in Rhinebeck!
My husband and I recently stayed for two nights at Veranda House. It is a lovely B&B. Our room was very clean and charmingly decorated, with a renovated bathroom. The breakfast was delicious and very filling. This is a great location for exploring the Hudson River Valley.
4 college friends celebrating our 60th birthdays, coming from various points in the northeast happened upon the veranda house. it was perfect. location walkable for strolls into rhinebeck, drivable to points up and down the hudson river valley. but what is best are the amenities. beautifully decorated, housed in a federal from 1842. our inn keeper yvonne sarn is charming and boy oh boy can she serve up a fabulous breakfast! we laughed, talked, ate and drank in perfect surroundings. i will go back!
My husband and I just spent three lovely days in Rhinebeck and we stayed at the Veranda House. It is a charming B&B with a great hostess (Yvonne), who served delicious breakfasts each morning. We stayed in the Rose Room, which we really liked. Lots of room, except that the shower was a bit small. Great canopy bed, really comfy. When we return to Rhinebeck for a weekend getaway, we will most certainly stay at the Veranda House, if there are rooms available.
We stayed for two nights, the room was spotless and furnishings interesting. But, small bed, small bathroom, small room. No tea/coffee facilities in the room, or even downstairs on arrival. Not even water! Although when booking I was assured that there was WiFi (essential for husband) the connection was VERY poor and intermittent. Breakfasts were OK, fresh muffins, good coffee. But ALWAYS served at 8.30am. Not a different option. At over $200 per night, we expected more. Also although told we could pay by card, this was not an option actually as facility was not working, so only cash accepted. Fine with us, but could have been a problem for some.
Last weekend was our second stay at the Veranda House and will definitely go back. We stayed in the room on the first floor and the accommodations were excellent. Best night of sleep I've had in awhile. The shower is a bit small but it wasn't really a problem. Breakfast was excellent...fresh fruit, muffins, French toast on the first day. Freshly baked banana bread and Quiche the second day of our stay. The Veranda House is located within walking distance to downtown Rhinebeck and the Dutchess County Fairgrounds--maybe 5 blocks to each. Our hostess was delightful and full of recommendations on things to do.
